SATCOM Division of NIC hasdeveloped a set of tools to facilitate allusers to monitor the performance of theirVSAT as well as to enable bettermanagement of large network projects.These tools allow the users to checkavailability and data usage of each VSAT ona daily basis, check the current online statusof VSAT and get the details of thethroughput of a VSAT for last 12 hrs which isavailable in different formats includinggraphical reports. All these reports areavailable on the website of the SATCOMDivision http://satcom.nic.in/. Theinformation can be accessed through the link‘NICNET Reports’ on the main page of thiswebsite .M Manivannan, NIC-A&N (former SIO Pondicherry)A Venkatesan, SIO Pondicherryprojects are also available. This helps theuser to examine and analyse patterns ofusage as well as availability and downtimeof their respective VSATs.| Online HealthMonitoringSystem forVSATsReal timeinformation hasbeen provided usinga WEB based OnlineHealth Statusmonitoring systemfor VSATs. Thesystem has been implemented with clickable| Online Traffic (Current utilization)Monitoring ToolA Multi Router Traffic Grapher (MRTG) webDaily Graph (1 Minute Average)based tool is available, which providesonline data throughput of every VSATthat is operated on NICNET. It alsoindicates any abnormal traffic eitherin transmission or reception, whichhelps the user to identify and analysevirus or spam traffic that flowsthrough a specific VSAT. Any abnormalpattern can be analysed and problemscan be addressed effectively.The main objective of providing thesetools is to enable the users toevaluate performance of their VSATsthemselves. SIOs, HODs, ProjectCoordinators and individual users canuse the reports and tools for availingenhanced services from the NICNET.For more information, mail tocustomer-relations@lsmgr.nic.in| NICNET ReportsNICNET reports provide a means to the userto graphically view Network availability /Utilisation / Data transferred / On-line orOff-line status / Voice and Video utilizationetc (for both current month and previousmonth). Each user can check the utilizationof a particular VSAT. Moreover summaryreports based on networks and majormaps, which can drill down to a specificVSAT of the user’s interest. Through thissystem, one can easily know the number ofonline/offline VSATs of a state or aparticular project.
