Virbhadra Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister ofHimachal Pradesh recently inaugurated theVideo Conferencing facility that has been setupby NIC in all the district headquarters of thestate. The inauguration function was attendedby a number of Cabinet Ministers and officialsof the State Government including the ChiefSecretary. Thiru. Dayanidhi Maran, Hon’bleUnion Minister for Communications and IT, alsoparticipated in the function through VC andassured the Chief Minister to provide allpossible help for development of ICT in thestate.The project implemented at a cost of over Rs. 3crores includes the installation of VC studios in10 districts and four tribal sub-divisions ofBharmour, Pangi, Pooh and Kaza. In thereview meeting Sh. S N Patra, Hon’ble Ministerfor IT (Orissa), other elected members anddistrict level officers were present. The meetingwas coordinated by Sh. Parag Gupta, RevenueDivisional Commissoner (South) and the reviewreport was presented by Sh. Sanjay Singh,Collector, Ganjam district. All the technicalassistance for conducting the meeting wasprovided by NIC under the supervision of Sh. RK Dash, TD NIC, RDC Office, Berhampur and Sh.| BCWD Computerization in Bankura, WBBackward Class Welfare Department (BCWD) ofBankura District in West Bengal has taken amajor step towards e-governance bycomputerizing its day-to-day activities withtechnical support from the NIC Bankura DistrictCentre. Sh. N K Das, Sr. Technical Director ofNIC West Bengal State Centre formally handedover the software to Sh. P K Mishra, DistrictMagistrate Bankura in a function organised byIssuance of Land Records Copies, Arms Licenseetc. will be made available. Sh. C BPaliwal, Transport Commissioner (UP), who waspresent in the meeting, lauded the efforts forcomputerization of UP Transport Department,which is being done with the help of NIC.In the meeting a presentation on the on-goingcomputerization project was given to theTransport Commissioner and ARTOs discussedvarious issues/problems related to thecomputerization project.Y K Singh, NIC Uttar Pradesh| Recent developments in AGMARKNETProjectThe AGMARKNET project is being implementedthroughout the country on a priority basis andsome of the recent activities regarding theproject are as follows:• NIC Jharkhand State Centre conducted a fivedayworkshop (5 th -9 th September) cum trainingprogram on AGMARKNET in which 20 officialsincluding Market Secretaries and Supervisorsfrom 13 Bazar Samitis of Jharkhand took part.At the end of the training program Sh. N LSingh, Senior Marketing Officer, DMI Ranchipresented the certificates to the participants.• A state level AGMARKNET project reviewmeeting was held on 23 rd August at Dehradun.All the Secretaries of 20 Mandi Samities in thestate participated in the meeting along withSh. P S Kutiyal, Director Mandi Parishad, Sh.Rajesh Goyal, NIC-State AGMARKNET ProjectCoordinator, Sh. Rajendra Singh, A.A.M.A.(DMI, Dehradun) and other officials from MandiParishad of Haldwani and DMI Dehradun.• The Punjab Mandi Board has included themonthly review of AGMARKNET project as acompulsory activity in their agenda. Secretary,Punjab Mandi Board has issued instructions toconduct monthly review meetings withSecretary APMCs, ICT Core Team Members,respective DIOs and further apprise the NICAGMARKNET State Coordinator and Nodal Officerfrom Punjab Mandi Board. NICKerala launched the first official website of theevent, which was inaugurated recently by Sh. KC Venugopal, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism andDevaswom, Kerala. NIC Web Services Division,New Delhi also made a live webcast of theevent. The Teleinformatics DevelopmentPromotion Programme Division supportedproviding live feed to the DD sports. Thewebcast is now available as video-on-demandon the website http://nehrutrophy.nic.in. Thewebcast received hits from over 18 countriesacross the world.Asha Verma, Kerala Correspondent| NIC support during President’s visit toSikkimDuring the visit of the HE the President ofIndia, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam to Sikkim on 22 ndSeptember, NIC Sikkim established WirelessLAN in Raj Bhawan for providing Internetfacility and a number of computers were alsoinstalled for the purpose. A team of officialsfrom NIC Gangtok was deployed at the RajBhavan to ensure smooth running of thenetwork operations.On 21 st September, a day before the President’svisit, the official website of the Raj Bhavanhttp://rajbhavansikkim.gov.in was inauguratedby HE the Governor of Sikkim, Sh. V Rama Rao.Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh. Pawan Kr.
