EXECUTIVESMALCOLM BORDELONFRONT OFFICEEXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS OPERATIONSMalcolm Bordelon enters his 19th season with Sharks Sports & Entertainment(SSE) and the San Jose Sharks, his 17th as executive vice president of businessoperations. Bordelon previously served as vice president, broadcast and mediaMmarketing since joining the club in July 1994.Bordelon, 54, oversees all business operations for the Sharks, including ticket sales and service; corporatepartnerships, which includes suite sales and hospitality; broadcasting; marketing and digital media; event presentation;media and public relations; and fan development.He also oversees business operations for the Worcester Sharks, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate.Furthermore, as a member of Senior Management, Bordelon is involved in review and pursuit of new businessopportunities for SSE.In addition to overseeing the business operations of the Sharks, Bordelon has played a key role in developing and isalso responsible for managing parts of SSE, which oversees the business operations of several entities across the UnitedStates, including the Sharks, the Worcester Sharks, the SAP Open ATP World Tour Tennis Tournament, the managementof HP Pavilion at San Jose and other select HP Pavilion events, the men’s ATP World Tour men’s tournament and the WTAinternational women’s tournament in Memphis, TN, The Racquet Club of Memphis, and several ice facilities in the BayArea, including Sharks Ice at San Jose (the San Jose Sharks official training facility), Sharks Ice at Fremont and OaklandIce Center operated by Sharks Ice.Bordelon played an integral role in the planning and launch of the Sharks updated logo for the 2007-08 seasonas well as the team’s 20th anniversary marks for 2010-11. Bordelon also worked closely with Reebok/CCM and theNational Hockey League to develop and coordinate the launch of re-designed Sharks uniforms in 1997 and 2007 andhas been a central figure in the concept, design and implementation of the Sharks alternate “black” jersey.In addition, Bordelon is the franchise contact for a number of <strong>NHL</strong> sponsorship, broadcasting and other businessrelatedissues. In that capacity, he served as the team’s primary contact and coordinator with the <strong>NHL</strong> for the 1997 All-Star Game as the Sharks and the City of San Jose played hosts to what has been called one of the most successful midseasonclassics ever conducted. He also worked with the <strong>NHL</strong> as the club’s main liaison for the Sharks two-game seriesvs. the Calgary Flames in GAME ONe Japan, the <strong>NHL</strong>’s kick-off weekend to the 1998-99 season in Tokyo. Bordelonplayed a similar coordination role working with the <strong>NHL</strong> on the Sharks 2010-11 season opening games in Stockholm,Sweden vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets as part of the <strong>NHL</strong> Premiere games in Europe as well as an exhibition match vs.the Mannheim Eagles at SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany.The Sharks have also made significant gains in corporate partnerships under Bordelon’s direction, including thenaming of HP Pavilion at San Jose and the club level of the facility as the Comerica Bank Club and Citrix Suites. Since hejoined the organization, numerous Bay Area high-tech <strong>com</strong>panies have made their first forays into sports sponsorshipwith the Sharks and other SSE properties.Bordelon is a member of The Alliance of Chief Executives, a <strong>com</strong>munity of business leaders that focus on strategicexchanges and challenging existing assumptions - leading to <strong>com</strong>petitive advantage, and was named to the initialsteering <strong>com</strong>mittee of the San Francisco Chapter of the National Sports Marketing Network, an industry tradeorganization for sports business professionals. Bordelon served on the board of the San Jose Downtown Foundationand also served as the San Jose Downtown Association president in 1998 and 1999. Bordelon is a member of theAmerican Leadership Forum-Silicon Valley, (Class XVIII), a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a better SiliconValley <strong>com</strong>munity by joining and strengthening leaders to serve the public good.Bordelon joined the Sharks after spending six years as director of sponsorship sales and promotions with theIndiana Pacers. Previously, he spent seven years within the advertising industry, including stints in media sales withCarlisle Outdoor Advertising and advertising agencies Ogilvy & Mather and Cunningham & Walsh, claiming numerousnational and local awards and citations for outstanding creative and professional achievement.A native of Houston, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in advertising. Upon his graduation, hewas named the American Advertising Federation Outstanding Advertising Student and the Texas Tech School of MassCommunications Most Outstanding Student. In addition, on Oct. 16, 1999, Bordelon was awarded the “OutstandingAlumni of the School of Mass Communications” during Texas Tech’s home<strong>com</strong>ing festivities.
