Electrified Exit Devices<strong>ED4000</strong>Delayed Egress Exit DeviceThe delayed egress option providesadditional security and safety in a strongline of panic hardware. The delayedegress exit device is an electromechanicaldevice used to secure interior or exterioropenings. The option is available for rim,SecureBolt® and concealed vertical roddevices in all standard finishes.OperationThe exit door is normally closed andlatched. The Delayed Egress Exit Device“D” secures the door in the locked modewith the solid Red LED indicating lockedmode status. Depressing the push padfor less than 3 seconds will sound thenuisance beep without initiating the alarm.Depressing the pushpad for 3 secondsor longer will initiate an irreversible localaudible beeping tone and a visual amberindicator until the device releases. Theperson depressing the exit bar is deniedegress for 15 or 30 seconds and securitypersonnel are alerted. After the delay timeof 15 or 30 seconds the device releases,the LED changes to Green, and the alarmchanges to a steady tone which continuesto alarm until manually reset by key. Depressing the pushpad for morethan the nuisance delay time starts theexit delay cycle.• Bypass: Turning the key switchclockwise to the bypass position allowsimmediate egress without alarming.The bar functions as a standard exitdevice. (Red LED flashes slow.)• Reset/Delay: Used to reset device afterthe factory set 15 or optional 30-seconddelay cycle has timed out. If the deviceis armed, turning the key switchcounterclockwise to the reset mode willrelease the device without alarm foregress and will rearm after 10 seconds.(Red LED flashes quickly.)Local Visual Status Indicator:• RED: The exit device is secure and thedelayed egress circuitry is energized.• AMBER: The egress cycle has started,indicated by an irreversible localaudible beeping tone.• GREEN: Exit device is in alarm andhas released.Nuisance Delay Time:Depressing for less than 3 seconds soundsan audible beep without activating theirreversible alarm sequence. (Immediatealarm can be selected by removing ajumper on the control board.)Internal Alarm Siren:When the exit device is armed, depressingthe push pad initiates the internal 85dbalarm siren.Remote Control Inputs:• Remote Reset: Accepts a momentarycontact (keyswitch, pushbutton, etc.) toreset the unit during alarm or allowsmomentary egress (10 seconds) whenthe unit is armed.• Remote Bypass: Accepts a momentarycontact to put the unit in a maintainedbypass operation. The exit devicefunctions as a standard device.Alarm Outputs:Two sets of normally open and normallyclosed contacts. Contacts change onlyduring alarm status. One set of contactschanges when device delay cycle hasstarted (Alarm).
