<strong>NCAA</strong> Division III <strong>Baseball</strong> Umpires‘ Manual 2013These evaluations must be sent to the national coordinator by June 12. Head coaches ofparticipating institutions are given the opportunity to evaluate umpires as well.Immediately upon completion of the tournament these evaluation must be sent to thenational coordinator. It is recommended that the crew chief meet with each member ofthe crew to discuss his overall evaluations and any problem areas. It is not the policy ofthe <strong>NCAA</strong> to forward copies of evaluations to umpires; however, any umpire maycontact the national coordinator to discuss his evaluations. The national coordinator willcompile all the evaluations submitted during the championship and submit a recap to theofficiating subcommittee.At the championship, the national coordinator with input from the baseball committeemembers will complete an evaluation form for each umpire at the championship.SECTION 9: OFF THE FIELD9.1 CREW CHIEF.Once notified of his site and crew, the crew chief should first contact his assistant andstart the process of notifying the other members of the crew. He then should contact thetournament manager and <strong>NCAA</strong> game representative to confirm the pre tournamentmeeting time and site. If all members of the crew have not been contacted and responsereceived by Monday night, May 13 for regionals, the crew chief should contact thenational coordinator. The <strong>NCAA</strong> office staff will provide the host institution regional siteinformation for each regional.The crew chief should confirm the hotel arrangements and then notify the nationalcoordinator with the following numbers:1. Crew chief cell phone.2. Assistant crew chief cell phone.3. Locker room.4. Press box.5. Hotel (phone and fax).Aside from the leadership responsibilities on the field, crew chiefs are responsible forconduct of the umpires off the field as well. The crew chief must file a written report ofany incident of misconduct, unprofessional behavior, or violation of these guidelines withthe national coordinator immediately after the tournament. Crew chiefs will be heldresponsible, and possibly disciplined for any incident not reported or for any umpireviolations of these policies and procedures.9.2 – GUESTS.Some umpires like to bring wives or other guests to tournaments. This is acceptable aslong as the umpire does not abuse the situation or inconvenience his partners, <strong>NCAA</strong>22 of 50
