<strong>NCAA</strong> Division III <strong>Baseball</strong> Umpires‘ Manual 2013the criteria listed above and make a formal recommendation to the baseballcommittee.Aside from the criteria listed above, the following are taken into consideration whenmaking recommendations and final assignments:a. Where each umpire is ranked on the conference list;b. If the umpire is ranked on other conference lists and their ranking on thoselists;c. If the umpire was selected to work the conference tournament this year; andd. In-season evaluations by the national coordinator and regional advisors.Umpires also will receive a letter of notification relative to their assignment.SECTION 4: ELGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FORUMPIRES1. In order to be considered for <strong>NCAA</strong> Division III umpire championship selectionand assignment, the following eligibility requirements must be satisfied by thedeadline dates:a. Attendance at <strong>NCAA</strong> regional umpire clinic (every two years)- SeeAppendix A for clinic sites and information.b. Receive a passing grade of 80 percent or better on the annual <strong>NCAA</strong>baseball test – Online rules test must be completed onhttp://ncaabaseball.arbitersports.com by Monday, February 11, 2013.SECTION 5: DIVISION III CHAMPIONSHIP TRAVEL5.1 – TRANSPORTATION.All umpires within 500 miles of their assigned site are required to drive and will bereimbursed at 50 cents per mile. If you live more than 500 miles from the site andchoose to drive instead of fly, you will be reimbursed for the cost of the flight youwould have taken. Contact Short‘s Travel Management (866/821-8547) for all flightarrangements and to calculate your approximate mileage reimbursement. For thosetraveling by air, you will be reimbursed for the cost of two bags. If you needanother due to your equipment, please let us know before you travel so that we canapprove the reimbursement of the third bag. The <strong>NCAA</strong> does NOT pay foroverweight baggage.8 of 50
