Although the term“minimize” is typically employed in messaging systems, it can be used effectively across allinformation systems. Full details of the Minimize Procedure are contained in ACP 121.OPSEC – RIVERCITY PROCEDURES331. RiverCity procedures are used to control outgoing communication paths for OPSECreasons. The direct access to an open channel of communication ashore has a number ofoperational implications. This, combined with direct access to e-mail, carries an inherent riskof essential elements of friendly information being disclosed, either deliberately orinadvertently. IT security measures, including what information can / cannot be passed, mustbe well understood by all. Accordingly, RiverCity procedures must include a plan toshutdown / limit access to personal e-mail services and Internet access when required forreasons of operational security, or in the event of a significant incident at sea.FILE NAMING CONVENTION332. Users should focus on providing a meaningful description for all file names. Thefollowing document-naming convention allows other users to locate, read, and ascertainexactly WHAT it is, WHEN it was created, WHO created it, and its CLASSIFICATION.333. The following naming convention shall be used:a. Name – provide a meaningful name (e.g. INTSUM);b. Date – This date may be the date that the document was signed, or the brief waspresented, or the authoring date. The date format must be DDMMMYY;c. Author – who created the document (e.g. J2); andUncontrolled copy when printedd. Classification – as assigned by the originator.
