Community Investments<strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pierce</strong> <strong>County</strong> raises funds through its annual workplace campaign, individual donations, grants,bequests and program income. Those funds are reinvested in our community through grants to 117 local programsas part <strong>of</strong> our three-year Community Solutions Fund commitments, through initiative and system investments inour focus areas and through community programs. Additionally, <strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> processes the donations <strong>of</strong> donors whodirect their gifts to designated recipients through the campaign, the state’s Combined Fund Drive and the CombinedFederal Campaign. The Value <strong>of</strong> Your Donation<strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pierce</strong> <strong>County</strong> combines your gift with thousands <strong>of</strong> others to impact the most pressing issues ona larger scale. Additionally, <strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> also combines financial gifts with grants, in-kind product donations andvolunteer service to amplify gifts further. For each dollar that is donated, <strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> is able to reinvest $1.21 backinto the community. Direct investments, volunteer hours valued at more than $2.6 million and more than $1.1million dollars in in-kind products are invested each year. Operational Cost: Administration, Resource Development, Dues to affiliates constitutes $1,669,652. <strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Pierce</strong> <strong>County</strong> reserved $215,175 for uncollectable pledges and has one <strong>of</strong> the lowest uncollected rates in the nation (3.75 percent). <strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pierce</strong> <strong>County</strong> assesses 17.19 percent for donationsdesignated to a specific charity program. Additionally, <strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pierce</strong> <strong>County</strong> administers the Combined Federal Campaign for the South Puget Sound. <strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> does not assess any dues, feesor service charges to programs for donations received from any CFC campaign.18
