1.Company ProfileTŘINECKÉ ŽELEZÁRNY, a.s. (The Tř<strong>in</strong>ec Iron and Steel Works), which was established 170 years ago, <strong>in</strong> 1839, is among thesteel companies with the longest tradition <strong>in</strong> the Czech Republic. It produces 2.5 million tonnes of steel annually <strong>in</strong> an <strong>in</strong>tegratedmetallurgical cycle, which represents more than one third of the total production of steel <strong>in</strong> the Czech Republic. The ma<strong>in</strong> productportfolio consists of long rolled products – wire rod, rebars and sections, special bar steel, rails, wide steel and semis. Additionalproducts <strong>in</strong>clude coke, by-products result<strong>in</strong>g from production, artificial compact aggregates and granulated slag. Tř<strong>in</strong>ecké železárny isthe biggest Czech steel company with local capital. Its majority owner is MORAVIA STEEL a.s. These two companies together createone of the most considerable <strong>in</strong>dustrial groups <strong>in</strong> the Czech Republic. The basic strategy of the Tř<strong>in</strong>ecké železárny – Moravia SteelGroup (TŽ – MS) is a dynamic <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> the growth of the share of long products with higher added value and its control with<strong>in</strong> theup- and down-stream product cha<strong>in</strong>s. A gradual diversification of the product portfolio <strong>in</strong>creases our resistance to market sw<strong>in</strong>gs.The Tř<strong>in</strong>ecké železárny – Moravia Steel Group also <strong>in</strong>cludes companies that are part of the product cha<strong>in</strong>s of Tř<strong>in</strong>ecké železárny orwhich provide other services. Tř<strong>in</strong>ecké železárny holds a majority stake <strong>in</strong> 17 companies and significant capital share <strong>in</strong> a further 10companies belong<strong>in</strong>g to the Group. In <strong>2008</strong>, the Tř<strong>in</strong>ecké železárny – Moravia Steel Group was enlarged to <strong>in</strong>clude Hanácké železárnya pérovny, a.s., Šroubárna Kyjov, spol. s r.o. and D 5, akciová společnost Tř<strong>in</strong>ec. The production facilities <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the Tř<strong>in</strong>eckéželezárny – Moravia Steel Group are located <strong>in</strong> Tř<strong>in</strong>ec, Kladno, Staré Měste u Uherského Hradiště, Bohumín, Česká Ves u Jeseníku,Ostrava, Dobrá u Frýdku-Místku, Kyjov, and Prostějov.To date, Tř<strong>in</strong>ecké železárny has produced more than 160 million tonnes of steel, especially long rolled products, which have beenplaced on the domestic market as well as bought by customers all over the world. Moravia Steel sells the products of Tř<strong>in</strong>ecké železárnythrough its trade network.
