46 STU Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies7.4 Research Laboratoriescompare individual filters with each other and also with gradient descentmethod Truncated Backpropagation Through Time (BPTT(h)).I show the results are consistently better when comparing recurrentneural networks trained by these advanced methods with BPTT(h). Inthe like manner, Extended Kalman Filter achieves worse results comparedto the other filters, which on the other hand achieve comparableresults with each other. I describe how to speed up their computationby utilizing the graphics card. My work is one of the first (if not thefirst) that focuses on recurrent neural network training utilizing theprocessor on graphics card.Laboratory of Database TechnologiesManager: M.GalbavýContact:miroslav.galbavy@stuba.skDescription: The laboratory is oriented towards support of research tasks, whichuse in some stages of solution a database environment, or which dealwith security issues of database and information systems. Further applicationis in database application including multimedia applications,Global Information Systems, on-line transaction processing, on-lineanalytical processing, data-mining, data warehouses, internet accessto databases, applications of CASE systems. The laboratory isequipped with SUN Enterprise 250 server and tens of SunRay workstationsand some PC’s. Software equipment includes database environmentOracle 8.1.6, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, andProgress v8.Laboratory of Intelligent Embedded SystemsManager: Š. KozákContact:stefan.kozak@stuba.skDescription: The aim of the laboratory is the development of advanced soft techniquesand principles and their broad and far-reaching applications topractical embedded systems in industries. In the Laboratory of IntelligentEmbedded Systems researchers are developing smart systemsand transmitters, electronic devices, and control-and-decision-makingsoftware and algorithms to empower embedded systems performanceusing artificial intelligence methods. The big challenge of the researchwork in the laboratory is to develop efficient methods andsoftware and hardware tools which can be used in industries to enhancethe product design process, make time-to-market shorter andimprove overall quality of the final products.Laboratory of Modelling and SimulationManager: Š.
