ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONWARRANTY GUIDELINESAlthough we designed the VPS to outlast and outperformanything else out there – it is not indestructible. Warrantyis not meant to suggest that your bike cannot be brokenor will last forever. Hard to believe, but we’ve had peoplerequest warranty service after having hit a tree andbuckling the fork. In this case, warranty service wasdeclined. You don’t buy a new truck and recklessly drive itinto a brick wall - then try to claim it was defective becauseit didn’t hold up. Its just common sense. We pride ourselveson being fair and ask that you be fair with us. To avoid anymisunderstanding, listed below are some common issueswarranty does not cover.Warranty does not cover failure or damage to any componentdue to the following:1) Accident, crash, or evidence of impact.2) Abusive riding, misuse or any other abnormal, excessive,or improper conditions. (Norco defines misuse or abusiveriding as any activity engaged in upon a product that isnot originally intended nor engineered for that specificactivity.)3) Failure as result of wear, stress, or fatigue. Fatiguedamage is a symptom of the frame being worn outthrough use. It is one kind of wear and tear.4) Failure as result of poor maintenance or neglect.5) Improper assembly, adjustment, or repair by any otherthan an authorized Norco dealer.6) Modifying and/or installing components other than thoseoriginally installed by Norco or deemed inconsistent withthe use originally intended for the bicycle as sold. Seebelow.7) Commercial or rental use.8) Competitive racing or stunt riding.WWW.NORCO.COM9) Bent or broken components and/or frames (includingovalized headtubes), are result of an overload orexcessive force applied to the part. Failure analysissubstantiates this damage to be consistent with impactrelated failures such as accidents, misuse, or abusiveriding - which are not covered by warranty.HOW TO GET WARRANTY SERVICEMaking a Warranty Claim:1) You can contact ANY authorized Norco dealer for warrantyservice. Check the dealer listing on our website, or callour Customer Service department at (604) 552-2930.2) You will need your original receipt as a proof of purchaseto show your authorized Norco Dealer when you bringyour bike in for warranty inspection.3) Your local authorized dealer will provide the quickestanswers and solutions for your warranty questions, evenif it's not the dealer you originally bought your bikefrom.4) If the authorized dealer deems it necessary to send thebike frame back to Norco, the bike is to be strippedcompletely and only the frame is to be sent back.5) The right to repair or replace warranty claims is reservedby Norco.PRODUCT LIFE CYCLEWhile your bike is covered against defects in materialand workmanship for a given period-of-time, it is ourexperience that most defects will show themselves in thefirst few weeks of riding.Due to the nature of the sport, mountain biking ofteninduces accelerated wear on the frame and componentswhen used in extreme off-road conditions. All thingsmechanical have a limited useful life due to wear, stress,13

ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONand fatigue, and there is no guarantee that the product willlast the term of the warranty.Just like your favourite pair of jeans, every Norco bike andframeset has a useful life cycle. This time span shouldn'tbe confused with the warranty period. Warranty means theperiod of time that Norco will repair or replace the product ifdeemed necessary. A manufacturer's lifetime warranty doesnot mean the product will last forever. It is referring to thelength of the useful life cycle of that product, which variesdepending on the kind of bike, riding conditions and TLCthe bike receives. The useful product life cycle of a Norcobicycle or frameset is considerably decreased by atypicalriding applications like all the disciplines in competitiveracing, jumping, trick and trials riding, and constant use insevere weather and/or climates. Use of a Norco bicycle inany one or combination of these situations may cause anunanticipated or premature failure of the bike or frameset, and may therefore not be covered by this warranty. Itis the owner's responsibility to have the bike checkedperiodically by an authorized Norco dealer for signs ofpossible faliure, i.e. dents, cracks, deformations, corrosion, premature paint peeling and any other abnormalitiescaused by innappropriate use or mis-use. Following thesesafety checks may help avoid preventable accidents, bodilyinjury to the rider or a shortened life cycle of a Norco bikeor frameset.CHANGING COMPONENTS MAY AFFECT YOURWARRANTYIf you should decide to change components or addaccessories, you do so at your own risk. Norco may nothave tested that component for compatibility, durability orsafety on your bike. We recommend you check with yourNorco dealer before changing any components on yourbike.Any modification of your frame, fork, or componentsmeans your bike no longer meets Norco’s original designspecifications and therefore will void your bike’s warranty.MAXIMUM TIRE SIZESActual tire width can vary greatly between brands (i.e. 2.5Nokian wider than 2.5 Kenda) and is further influenced byrim width. In some cases, you may find that the clearancebetween the tire and the frame is diminished. Important:Tire rub wear or damage to the inner chainstay (‘tire-buzz’)will void your frame warranty. Remember… if it rubs, don’trun it!TRAVEL INCREASEEach Norco VPS frame is designed with a specific amount ofrear travel in mind, depending on its intended use. Thingslike shock length and stroke, head tube angle, BB heightand fork length are always taken into consideration whenbuilding a frame. Altering your bike’s original geometry maygive very different or even dangerous ride characteristics.Furthermore, modifying the frame geometry can placeadditional stress on components causing them to fatigueor wear prematurely. For these reasons, we do notrecommend that you increase the rear travel of your VPSframe beyond what it has been designed and tested for. However, if you are one of those who are still determined todo so, there are some important safety considerations andcompatibility guidelines you should understand and follow. Please contact your local Norco dealer for further details.14
