Keep in mind that in most cases, cutting offending frequencies is preferable to boostingother frequencies.Constant-QAn important Q-series feature is a sophisticated design that achieves constant-Qequalization curves. The letter “Q” is a mathematical symbol for bandwidth. Constantbandwidth means that the bandwidth does not change as the amount of boost or cut isvaried.InstallationThe Q-Series units are intended for mounting in standard 19” equipment racks. Standardracks come equipped with mounting rails with holes tapped for 10-32 machine screws.Be sure to use only 10-32 screws. To avoid marring the panel when tightening the screws,use nylon washers under the screw heads. For best results, all connecting cables shouldbe shielded. Balanced connections should use shielded, twisted-pair cable.If the Q-Series unit is not permanently installed in a system, but is available to be usedwhen and where needed, it may be most convenient to wire the system with a PatchBay such as the Furman PB-48. Then, each EQ channel can be easily patched into asneeded. Each EQ input/output pair should be connected to a vertical pair of jacks onthe patch bay. The “normal” jumper on that patch bay circuit board should be cut sothat the input and output are not connected when the channel is not in use.Available AccessoriesFurman Models SC-1, SC-2 Universal Security CoversThese attractive black anodized aluminum covers install over the front panel of any rackmountequipment.SC-1 is for single rack unit equipment (1.75” height) such as the Q-2151 or Q-1311, whileSC-2 is for double rack unit equipment like the Q-1312V, or Q-2312, or two singles.Their purpose is to prevent unauthorized tampering with the controls of permanentlyinstalled units. This is especially important when room equalization settings have beencarefully and precisely established, yet the equalizer or equalizers themselves must bein a location where the controls could be deliberately or accidentally changed. Whenchanges are necessary, the covers may be removed with a screwdriver withoutdismounting the underlying equipment from the rack.12
Three Year Limited WarrantyFurman Sound, Inc., having its principal place of business at 1997 South McDowell Blvd.,Petaluma, CA 94954 (“Manufacturer”) warrants its Q-Series Equalizers (the “Product”) asfollows:Manufacturer warrants to the original Purchaser of the Product that the Product soldhereunder will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of threeyears from the date of purchase. The Purchaser of the product is allowed fifteen daysfrom the date of purchase to complete warranty registration by mail or on-line at theFurman website. If the Product does not conform to this Limited Warranty during thewarranty period (as herein above specified), Purchaser shall notify Manufacturer inwriting of the claimed defects. If the defects are of such type and nature as to becovered by this warranty, Manufacturer shall authorize Purchaser to return the Product tothe Furman factory or to an authorized Furman repair location. Warranty claims shouldbe accompanied by a copy of the original purchase invoice showing the purchasedate; this is not necessary if the Warranty Registration was completed either via themailed in warranty card or on-line website registration. Shipping charges to the Furmanfactory or to an authorized repair location must be prepaid by the Purchaser of theproduct. Manufacturer shall, at its own expense, furnish a replacement Product or, atManufacturer’s option, repair the defective Product. Return shipping charges back toPurchaser will be paid by Manufacturer.THE FOREGOING IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDINGBUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FORA PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Manufacturer does not warrant against damages or defectsarising out of improper or abnormal use of handling of the Product; against defects ordamages arising from improper installation, against defects in products or componentsnot manufactured by Manufacturer, or against damages resulting from such non-Manufacturer made products or components. This warranty shall be cancelable byManufacturer at its sole discretion if the product is modified in any way without writtenauthorization from Furman Sound. This warranty also does not apply to Products uponwhich repairs have been affected or attempted by persons other than pursuant towritten authorization by Manufacturer.THIS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE. The sole and exclusive obligation of Manufacturer shall beto repair or replace the defective Product in the manner and for the period providedabove. Manufacturer shall not have any other obligation with respect to the Products orany part thereof, whether based on contract, tort, strict liability or otherwise. Under nocircumstances, whether based on this Limited Warranty or otherwise, shall Manufacturerbe liable for incidental, special, or consequential damages. Manufacturer’s employeesor representatives’ ORAL OR OTHER WRITTEN STATEMENTS DO NOT CONSTITUTEWARRANTIES, shall not be relied upon by Purchaser, and are not a part of the contractfor sale or this limited warranty.
