obh.mailBoarding Matters ……………The Weekend! This term’s boarding programme kicked off on avery big high this weekend as OBH went ‘secretservice’ for a couple of days. On Saturdayevening, thedining room wast r a n s f o r m e dinto a Las VegasCasino and thechildren donnedtheir bestcocktail dresses or came dressed as theirfavourite Bond characters complete with velvetsmoking jackets, pet cats and metal teeth. Eventhe staff made an effort with the ladies dustingoff their ‘going out’ dresses and Mr Drakemanaging to pourhimself into atuxedo that hasn’tseen the light ofday since his earlytwenties. Our casino eveningwas fantastic. With a murder mystery at thecentre of it, the children took the role of variousdodgy guests of the illustrious Ronald Trump andhis wife Iguana and, while trying to make themost money possible on roulette, black jack andpoker, tried to workout who was the villainamongst them. With afabulous mocktail barprovided by Miss C, theevening was sure to bea great success andwas. Shame on HustlingHailey, otherwise known as Mia Derrick, who had“offed” her husband for his insurance money!Following breakfast and a lovely Confirmation Service, the troops dressed down and were transported toJimmy’s Farm for Battlefield Live. Now, competition isalways where we see our children come alive … and didthey?! With Mr Drake leading the ‘camo’ team andMiss C theblack team, they went headto head in aruthless battleof laser tag. While MissPugh and MrsDrakeretreated tolook at the very cute piggies, they ran up and downvalleys, ducked behind trees and above all else, madesure they got Mr Drake. When we all met up 2 hourslater, they were happy, full of excitement andthoroughly exhausted. On returning to school we allsat down for a relaxed supper before getting the nowfamous, 3 man water balloon catapult out and finallysettling down to our favourite Bond Movie. An absolutely great start to the term and a funweekend for all involved. Many thanks must go to theweekend staff especially our wonderful gappies andMiss C who did a fantastic job with our mocktails andpreparation. Also, we would like to extend our warmcongratulations to Amy, Theo, Archie and Oscar whowere all Confirmed on Sunday. We hope you had awonderful day with your families.Old Buckenham HallBrettenham, Suffolk, IP7 7PH | tel: 01449 740252 | email: office@obh.co.ukwww.obh.co.uk

obh.mailNursery & Reception…..This week we have been discussing trains in the Nursery. We started the week with a train themed running game, which we enjoyed doing outside in the sunshine. We hadto listen to the instructions; red meant stop, greenmeant go and when Miss McMillan called out ‘peep-peep’we had to sit down and pretend to blow the train whistle. On Wednesday Nursery were sent a special task byThomas the Tank Engine, he had lost the Fat Controller’sspecial belongings and he needed the Nursery children’shelp to find them. The Nurseryhad a treasure hunt around OBHto find the lost objects. Once thechildren found all of the missingobjects, they kindly posted themback to Thomas on the Island ofSodor, and we are eagerlyawaiting a letter back from him.Phew, what a jam pack week we have had in Reception. On Monday we designed our own transport number line, ordering and writing numerals 0-20. During our weeklycircle time we discussed all the places we would like tovisit if we could drive our own car;Ben ten world, The North Pole andAustralia were popular destinations.Well, we couldn’t believe our ears andeyes whenMrs Stewardsaid she would lend her littlegreen car to the Receptionchildren so we could go on ourtravels. We all had a turn in thedriving seat and remembered topop on our seat belts before we set off.More excitement followed on Thursday when we woke upto a bright blue, sunny sky. This meant only one thing……the first swim of the year. Whatfun was had in the pool and itreally wasn’t quite as chilly as wehad expected!Grandparents/Godparents DayFriday 10th MayPlease could parents email the school office byMonday 6th May (office@obh.co.uk) if youwould like an invitation to be sent to your child’sGrandparent or Godparent who is planning toattend the Grandparents/Godparents morningnext Friday, 10th May.The morning programme will be:9.30 am Meet & GreetEscort for Grandparents/Godparents to the classrooms.9.30 am Pre-Prep Sing-along10.00 am French Café opens to includemusical performances10.50 am Tour of the school for Grandparents/Godparents11.45 am Music & stories in Britten Halland address by John BrettPre-Prep Open Day 10 am—3 pmPlease do encourage any families with youngchildren who are interested in learning moreabout OBH to come along to the Pre-Prep andNursery on Monday 6th May and meet thechildren and staff.Bucken-Oldham Hallwww.obh.co.uk
