It is the most general person location designation.The codification of facilities shall be defined at the highest level, according to thecontext of use of the PCD profile (acute care setting, ambulatory domain, etc.).Component 6: Person Location Type (IS), conditional but may be empty:<strong>IHE</strong> PCD condition: PL.6 is only populated if none of the other components of the PLdata type are populated.HL7 definition: Person location type is the categorization of the person’s locationdefined by facility, building, floor, point of care, room or bed. Although not arequired field, when used, it may be the only populated field. It usually includesvalues such as nursing unit, department, clinic, SNF, physician’s office.
