Troop B Assists Two Local FamiliesTroop B adopted two families this year. One family lives in Canton, MO, and included agrandmother who is raising her two grandsons, ages seven and nine. The second family(pictured) is from Lewiston, MO, and includes a dad who is raising his seven-year-old twingirls, an eleven-year-old daughter, and a 15-year-old son. Santa (retired Lt. Mike Platte) madea special appearance when Troop B’s elves delivered gifts and food. The troop holds fundraisersthroughout the year to make this project happen.Officers, Kmart Take Our Youth ShoppingOperation T.O.Y.S. (Take OurYouth Shopping) took place on December17, 2011, at the Kmart store inJefferson City, MO. Over 60 childrenenjoyed a Christmas shopping experiencethanks to the combined effortsof the Missouri <strong>State</strong> <strong>Highway</strong> <strong>Patrol</strong>,the Missouri Department of Corrections,the Missouri Capitol Police, theCole County Sheriff’s Department,the Jefferson City Police Department,and the Lincoln University Police Department.Special thanks to the Missouri<strong>State</strong> Troopers Association forsponsoring 10 of the children.Tpr. Timothy P.McGrail, Q/CJISD,helps his shopper pickout clothes.New Tradition Feeds Local FamiliesGeneral Headquarters sponsored its fourth annual Christmas food drive for the Samaritan Center in Jefferson City. Each year, thegenerosity of <strong>Patrol</strong> employees grows. This year’s donation took five pickup trucks to deliver. In 2011, some divisions held internalcompetitions and fundraisers, and donated the results to the food drive. The Samaritan Center personnel greatly appreciated thedonation, which helps feed local families during the holiday season.January-February 2012/<strong>Patrol</strong> News 11
