Cobb, Q/PIEDThe Missouri <strong>State</strong> <strong>Highway</strong> <strong>Patrol</strong> joined a special gathering ofvictims, families, friends, safety groups, and state leaders to rememberthose affected by impaired drivers. This memorial event tookplace November 29, 2011, in the Capitol rotunda. It served as an opportunityto remember those who have been killed or injured in impaireddriving crashes. It also reminds everyone of the importanceof driving sober.Colonel Ronald K. “Ron” Replogle, Q/Staff, spoke at the event.He encouraged everyone to drive with the highest degree of care,and stressed the importance of planning for alternate transportationor a designated driver when celebrations include alcohol.While fatalities in Missouri have steadily decreased since 2005,the number of fatal crashes attributed to impaired driving has remainedsteady. In 2010, a total of 821 people died in Missouri intraffic crashes. Of those, 218 people were killed in crashes wheredrinking involvement was a significant contributing factor.The Missouri Remembers event takes place annually and isopen to the public.Col.
