USA & CANADA
This month’s submission covers North Carolina and Virginia following our visit there last summer; it also
incorporates information gathered together over many years by Maurice Bateman and others. I acknowledge the
help given by all those whom we met whilst visiting these states, but most especially Bill & Nancy Rowland, the
Billings’ family, John Huffstetler and David Pleace. I also acknowledge use of the British Buses Abroad in North
America e-group. Please remember, your reports are most welcome and should be sent to me, Brian Coney, at 47
Paynesdown Road, THATCHAM, Berkshire, RG19 3SE (phone and e-mail addresses are available).
Note that in the Previous Owner column, “pko” stands for “Previous Known Owner”; there may have been
intermediate owners of whom we are unaware.
North Carolina (NC)
Correction to PX3: p 46 - NVX 311: delete all reference to ownership by a film company (full US history follows)
Corrections to OJ694 (OJ1997): pp 202/3: Barrier Island Station, Duck - delete reference to “YRU 70”, vehicle
now identified as the genuine YRU 70 with SBG triangular-style destination display (see below).
pp 202/3/4: delete reference to Car Museum, Charlotte - full name and address
for owner of 502 BTA now established (see below).
pp 203/4: delete u/k, Rhaesville, with LYF 188 - as history of LYF 188 is now
known, it seems unlikely that it was ever in North Carolina; Rhaesville (which I cannot find) could be a misreport
for Wytheville, VA, not all that far from the State line (see Virginia report following).
