Bowhunting<br />
u When hunting big game with a bow, hunters must use a bow having a draw<br />
weight <strong>of</strong> at least 20 kg (45 lbs) at your draw length, and must use broadhead<br />
arrows at least 710 mm (28 in.) in length.<br />
u Sheep hunters in subzone 9–03 (Gray Ridge) are restricted to bowhunting only.<br />
Since this is a permit hunt area for sheep, you must first obtain a permit through<br />
the lottery system. (See page 13.)<br />
u Bison hunters are not permitted to hunt with a bow.<br />
Captive Wildlife<br />
It is unlawful to:<br />
u hunt wildlife for the purpose <strong>of</strong> keeping it in captivity, without a special permit<br />
obtained in advance, or<br />
u hunt wildlife in captivity.<br />

skull attached to the horns including the entire eye<br />

Mountain goat skull attached to the horns<br />

the incisor bar and the antlers with all or part<br />

Elk entire head and complete hide (72 hours)<br />
Black bear complete skull<br />
Female grizzly bear complete skull plus the vulva attached to the hide<br />
complete skull plus the baculum (penis bone)<br />
Male grizzly bear attached to the hide or the penis sheath and<br />
scrotum attached to the hide<br />
Wolf, wolverine pelt ($10 sealing fee)<br />
u Every person who kills a bison, sheep, goat, deer, elk, black bear, grizzly bear,<br />
wolf or wolverine must deliver compulsory submissions to a Conservation Officer<br />
or wildlife technician.<br />
u Compulsory submissions for elk must be submitted no later than 72 hours after<br />
the animal was killed.<br />
u Compulsory submissions for bison, sheep, goats, deer and bears must be<br />
submitted no later than 15 days after the end <strong>of</strong> the month in which the animal<br />
was killed, or at the request <strong>of</strong> a Conservation Officer.<br />
u Compulsory submissions for wolves and wolverines must be submitted no later<br />
then 15 days after the end <strong>of</strong> the month in which the animal was killed or BEFORE<br />
the pelts are sold or transferred, whichever comes first. Submitted pelts are sealed<br />
with a numbered metal tag. A $10 sealing fee is charged for wolf and wolverine<br />
pelts, GST extra. Note that a Wildlife Act Permit is required before selling the pelt<br />
<strong>of</strong> a wolverine.<br />
