HEED: Learn Your <strong>Hunting</strong> Skills the Right Way<br />

Sign up for the free Hunter Education and Ethics Development (HEED) workshop.<br />

The 20-hour workshop is held throughout the year in most <strong>Yukon</strong> communities,<br />

depending on enrollment. Topics include wildlife identification, hunting regulations,<br />

wildlife management, wilderness survival, outdoor ethics and the Canadian Firearms<br />

Safety Course.<br />

Separate workshops are also <strong>of</strong>fered for moose, sheep, bear and bison hunters. These<br />

workshops provide hunting tips as well as information about identification, meat care,<br />

ethics and regulations.<br />

Anyone born after April 1, 1987 must successfully complete this course before being<br />

issued a hunting licence.<br />

The VITAL FOUR ACTS <strong>of</strong> firearm safety<br />

1. Assume every firearm is loaded.<br />

2. Control the muzzle direction at all times.<br />

3. Trigger finger <strong>of</strong>f and outside the trigger guard.<br />

4. See that the firearm is unloaded. Prove it safe.<br />
