<strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong> <strong>Service</strong> TM <strong>Policies</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Procedures</strong> <strong>Manual</strong>B)C)D)E)3.Not colluding, cheating, or committing any other improprieties or irregularities.Promptly alerting the <strong>GED</strong> Chief Examiner or Examiner to any irregularities.Maintaining the test surveillance log <strong>and</strong> seating chart.Assisting with testing accommodations, as requested by the <strong>GED</strong> Chief Examineror Examiner.<strong>GED</strong> Proctors may assist in distributing <strong>and</strong> picking up materials during testadministration.1.9 Staffing Policy Requirements for Staffing an Official <strong>GED</strong><strong>Testing</strong> CenterPOLICY: At a minimum, one <strong>GED</strong> Examiner must be present at each administrationof the <strong>GED</strong> Tests to 20 or fewer c<strong>and</strong>idates. For each additional group of up to 20c<strong>and</strong>idates, an additional <strong>GED</strong> Proctor or <strong>GED</strong> Examiner must be present.Section 1: <strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong> Program StaffBest practice: One <strong>GED</strong> Examiner <strong>and</strong> one <strong>GED</strong> Proctor are present at a test administrationfor 20 or fewer c<strong>and</strong>idates. For each additional 20 c<strong>and</strong>idates, an additionalstaff person (<strong>GED</strong> Examiner or <strong>GED</strong> Proctor) should assist with the test administration.When determining the number of examiners required to staff an official <strong>GED</strong> testing center,the <strong>GED</strong> Administrator should base decisions on the following criteria:A)B)C)D)The examiner’s regular availability to administer the <strong>GED</strong> Tests.The number of c<strong>and</strong>idates regularly tested in a testing session.The frequency of an official <strong>GED</strong> testing center’s testing sessions.The scheduled work time required for examiners to address <strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong> Programconcerns.1.9-1 Need for Additional Personnel at Specific <strong>Testing</strong> SessionsIf the <strong>GED</strong> Tests are being administered to a c<strong>and</strong>idate who has a disability, the official <strong>GED</strong>testing center staffing plan shall include having an appropriate number of people available toassist. For testing sessions conducted in correctional facilities, prison guards may be present ifthey meet the eligibility requirements for <strong>GED</strong> Proctors <strong>and</strong> have been trained. For c<strong>and</strong>idateswith medical needs or disabilities, appropriate professionals may be assigned <strong>and</strong> remain presentas necessary.June 2008 14
