<strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong> <strong>Service</strong> TM <strong>Policies</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Procedures</strong> <strong>Manual</strong>D)E)Educational institutions where a low overall testing volume does not justify establishing anofficial <strong>GED</strong> testing center, but the testing volume is high enough periodically to justify theexpense of sending a <strong>GED</strong> Examiner to the site to test.Certain proprietary schools, where an official <strong>GED</strong> testing center cannot be established.Staff members at any addendum site are not eligible to serve as <strong>GED</strong> Chief Examiners, <strong>GED</strong>Examiners, or <strong>GED</strong> Proctors <strong>and</strong> therefore may not administer the <strong>GED</strong> Tests. 2.6 <strong>Procedures</strong> for Establishment of an Addendum SiteA)B)C)D)E)F)The <strong>GED</strong> Chief Examiner submits Form L-25 (Request for Transportation Addendum) tothe <strong>GED</strong> Administrator for permission to transport secure testing materials to an appropriatetesting site. The <strong>GED</strong> Chief Examiner must provide justification of the need to testat the proposed site <strong>and</strong> assurance that the addendum site is a suitable facility for <strong>GED</strong>testing. The <strong>GED</strong> Chief Examiner must also ensure that only approved <strong>GED</strong> Examinerswill transport secure testing materials, <strong>and</strong> that appropriate inventory procedures will befollowed for any testing materials transported to an addendum site.The <strong>GED</strong> Administrator forwards Form L-25 to the <strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong> <strong>Service</strong> for review <strong>and</strong>approval.The <strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong> <strong>Service</strong> amends the annual contract <strong>and</strong> forwards the amendment to the<strong>GED</strong> Administrator, who then forwards it to the <strong>GED</strong> Chief Examiner.The testing center’s chief administrative officer <strong>and</strong> the <strong>GED</strong> Chief Examiner must signthe amended contract <strong>and</strong> return it to the <strong>GED</strong> Administrator, who signs <strong>and</strong> returns it tothe <strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong> <strong>Service</strong>.After receiving the amended contract, the testing center may begin testing at the addendumsite.Subsequent annual contracts will bear the name of any <strong>and</strong> each addendum site(s) that hasbeen added or deleted to the file of an official <strong>GED</strong> testing center.Section 2: <strong>Procedures</strong> for Opening an Official <strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong> CenterThe exception to this is at locations that are secure facilities (e.g., prisons, jails, or other locked residential facilities at which it isnecessary to have a guard, correctional officer, or other staff present to ensure orderly conduct).June 2008 20
