<strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong> <strong>Service</strong> TM <strong>Policies</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Procedures</strong> <strong>Manual</strong>4.3 Written Confirmation of EligibilityIt is important that the <strong>GED</strong> Chief Examiner <strong>and</strong> <strong>GED</strong> Examiners verify each <strong>GED</strong>c<strong>and</strong>idate’s eligibility prior to testing.<strong>GED</strong> Chief Examiners <strong>and</strong> <strong>GED</strong> Examiners must obtain a written statement confirmingeligibility from each c<strong>and</strong>idate. Such written confirmation must include the <strong>GED</strong> c<strong>and</strong>idate’ssignature <strong>and</strong> must be retained for use in verifying that the c<strong>and</strong>idate is eligible. Jurisdictionsthat do not require a written application for <strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong> that includes a statement concerningthe c<strong>and</strong>idate’s eligibility must use <strong>GED</strong>TS Form L-5.Examiners are advised to check the documentation of un-emancipated minors for parentalconsent to test, unless a court order is documented.When a <strong>GED</strong> Chief Examiner or <strong>GED</strong> Examiner has reasonable doubts concerning the validityof a c<strong>and</strong>idate’s eligibility, the Chief Examiner or <strong>GED</strong> Examiner has the right to questionthat c<strong>and</strong>idate <strong>and</strong> to withhold the c<strong>and</strong>idate’s admission <strong>and</strong> testing until such time as anyquestions have been answered <strong>and</strong> all doubts are resolved.4.4 Additional Jurisdictional Identity <strong>and</strong> EligibilityRequirementsJurisdictions may impose whatever additional requirements for verifying identity or fordetermining eligibility as are deemed necessary for the sound operation of their <strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong>Programs. Such policies may not, however, conflict with those established by the <strong>GED</strong> <strong>Testing</strong><strong>Service</strong>.4.5 Policy for Re-testingPOLICY: In order to achieve a passing score, <strong>GED</strong> c<strong>and</strong>idates shall be permitted tore-test on the entire battery or on certain test(s) in the battery in accordance with thefollowing:Section 4: <strong>GED</strong> C<strong>and</strong>idate Eligibility <strong>and</strong> Registration to Take the <strong>GED</strong> TestsA)C<strong>and</strong>idates may not test more than three times on any individual test in a contract year(January 1 to December 31).June 2008 36
