July - Camp Courageous

Thank you to Mrs. Lahr and the students
from West Delaware Schools in Manchester
who have collected 10 1/2 pounds of pop
tabs this year. The tabs are recycled and the
money goes to help campers and others who
use transportation to and from the Shriners
Hospitals. This is an ongoing service project
that the school has done for 14 years. To date
West Delaware has saved over 2 million tabsl
The Dubuque Advertiser held a walleye
outing on the Mississippi River Thurs.,
May 26th with the funds going to Camp
Courageous. The largest walleye caught
was a 28.25" caught by Dave Ambort (L) and
Rick Anderson (R). Gary Rudy from Rudy's
Rods made and donated a really special
custom built rod and reel that was raffled off
and won by Mike Reuter. The river was a little
high and the anglers fought windy conditions
but most found fish. Special thanks to Greg
Birkett for all his hard work on this!
Thank you to (L-R) Steve Ehrisman and John
Goffinet who represent the Monticello Eagles
Club for this check to go toward making the
camp pools more accessible. The Monticello
Eagles Club do an incredible job of working
hard on fund raising projects, then giving
all that hard work back to the community in
support. Thank you Eagles!

Club for making pillowcases for camp to use.

It was an extra special day for the students
from Hoover School in West Branch to meet
Andy Hoover, whose Grandfather, their
school was named after.
It was great to have the youth group from
First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, NE
back at camp this summer. They come to
work with campers for a week every couple of
years and allow us to take campers off of the
waiting list. This makes many campers and
their families very happy! Thanks to Pastor
John Curtiss, the youth, chaperones and all
the members of their church who make this
trip possible!
A big thank you to Gary Williams who
gave Camp Courageous the opportunity to
present the camp to Lados-Life After Death
of Spouse...a wonderful group of many long
time supporters of the camp. It was great to
rekindle many old friendships and to make
many new one.
Camp Courageous Campers RJ Hawkins
loves helicopters, so his teachers from
Washington Elementary School in Fairfield
decided to ask St Luke’s Lifeguard helicopter
to come visit when they came to Camp
Courageous.

rockwell groups have
benefits for Camp
A big thank you to the EEC group at
Rockwell who had a bake and barbecue
lunch. This department also combined
with a few labs raise $960! Mary
Johnson, Camp Courageous’ newest
board member is one of the members of
this hard working department.
Thank you to Rockwell's EEE charity
bake sale where all proceeds came to
Camp Courageous. This group did a
great job, with customers buying up
everything!
