CU jumped out to an 11-2 start, beforeSIU slowed the Bluejay attack. SIU took a 24-22 leadwith 2:49 left in the half, their first lead since 2-0.Herring’s driving lay-up with 11 seconds to go in thehalf sent the teams to the locker rooms tied at 26. TheBluejays, who turned the ball over five times in the firsthalf, committed seven turnovers in the first six minutesof the second half, while they did not drain a field goaluntil 13:10 remained in the game.
