She scored 20 of her game-high24 points in the second half to account for nearlyhalf of CU’s points in a 49-47 victory at WSU.The forward, who owns a 3.24 GPA in marketing,has now earned the scholar honor threetimes this year and been named Player of theWeek twice.Getting Free<strong>Creighton</strong> entered its game at Drake (Jan. 31)ranked last in the MVC in free-throw percentage,shooting 66.2 percent at the line. TheJays proceeded to shoot 25-of-28 at the line inthe three-point win. The 25 makes were a seasonhighs for the Jays. Her three steals against Bradley(Jan. 25) were a career-high.Turnover Topic<strong>Creighton</strong> leads the MVC with the fewestturnovers per game, while its 13.6 turnovers pergame ranks seventh in the NCAA. Those numbersare all the more impressive when notingthe Jays lost four-year starting point guard AllyThrall after last season. The Jays averaged17.3 turnovers per game last year.Impressive Defensive Streak<strong>Creighton</strong>’s opponents failed to score at least50 points in five straight games from Jan. 10-25. The last time CU put together a five-gamestreak in which opponents failed to scored 50points came during the 1977-78 season. Infact, prior to this year’s streak, the last time theJays had even gone back-to-back games withoutallowing 50 came on Dec. 30, 1993 andJan. 2, 1994.D-D-D-Defense<strong>Creighton</strong> is the top scoring defense in theleague, allowing opponents to average just 55.3points per game and a league-low 54 per gamein Valley play. Prior to this season, the Jayshad held an opponent to less than 50 in sevengames since 2002-03, while the Jays have nowheld 11 opponents below 50 points this year,including a season-low of 35 scored by IndianaState (March 5) and Drake (March 14).Sensing a Theme?<strong>Creighton</strong>’s defense is allowing just 55.3 pointsper game, the lowest by a Bluejay team sincethe fifth year of women’s basketball at<strong>Creighton</strong>. The 1977-78 Bluejays allowed just49.3 points per game.It’s Raining Threes<strong>Creighton</strong> dropped in a season-high 15 threepointersin its 92-63 victory over Missouri State(Jan. 8). The 15 treys were the most by aBluejay squad since making 15 againstEvansville on Jan. 18, 2003. It marked themost three-pointers ever made by a Lady Bearopponent and fell one shy of the CU record setin 1989 and four shy of the MVC record whichMissouri State set in 2005.More Three Information<strong>Creighton</strong> shot 65.2 percent from three-pointrange against Missouri State (Jan. 8), making15-of-23 and then followed by making 6-of-9(.667) at Southern Illinois.
