The Jays scored 15 unanswered pointsduring a game-closing 17-2 run to blow the gameopen. Chevelle Herring led all players with 17 points,while Megan Neuvirth grabbed 10 rebounds to leadthe Bluejays into the championship game. After hittingjust 8-of-28 shots in the first half, CU snapped out ofits four-game offensive funk in the second half. TheBluejays made four of their first five shots after the halfto claim a 31-21 lead less than five minutes in.Herring, who entered the game 4-of-35 from threepointrange in her previous four games, made 3-of-9and led the Jays with 17 points and three assists in 39minutes of play. With 10 rebounds, despite sitting for6:40 with foul trouble, Neuvirth became the 10th playerin league history to have at least 300 rebounds in aseason. Gallagher’s open look on thebaseline from 12-feet, was just UE’s sixth basket ofthe second half and served as the 11th and final leadchange of the game. With the score tied at 45,Kelsey Woodard had a shot to win it for the Bluejays,but her driving layup attempt missed and UE collectedthe rebound with 32 seconds to play to set up thegame-winning shot. The first half featured severalruns, as UE stormed out of the gates, draining its firstthree three-point attempts of the game to own an 11-2 lead just 3:08 into the contest. From there the Jaysanswered with the next five points to cut into the lead.UE responded with the game’s next nine points topush ahead 20-7. The Bluejays then rattled off 17unanswered points to go ahead 24-20.
