Edmonton Transit, Edmonton. Still owned in 6/09 and forming part of their historical collection of vehicles kept in their
Westwood Garage, was a 1939 Leyland Cub with front and centre doors. Fleet no. 5, with Alberta plate no. 2-906, is:
Leyland LKPZ-4 Cub chassis number 1376 with bodywork by Smith Bros. of Toronto configured B19D new in 1939.
A very nice bus and it is good to see Edmonton retaining a historical collection including both buses and trolleybuses.
Medallion Development, Calgary. ALD 904B is parked next to vacant land and near a small lake at an extensive residential
development marketed as Monterra just outside Cochrane a few miles west of Calgary. ALD 904B has been fitted with
rather neat folding doors to the platform and the windows have been blacked out; a phone number is carried in the route
number box and www.cochranelakes.com is in the destination box. Overall though the bus is a bit scruffy.
Midnight Madness Club Crawls, Calgary. They have a website at www.midnight-madness.ca but this is not accessible (9/09)
so I wonder if they have ceased trading now. TTE 641D is painted blue (as with its previous owner), and in 6/09 was
parked in a storage compound on Horton Road, Calgary.
Nite Tours International, Edmonton. Paul Bateson found their Bristol FLF 135 HUO parked in a U-Haul storage compound
near Winterburn and 16A, Edmonton. The bus is very derelict and it would seem doubtful that it will run again. Nite Tours
may have ceased operation, so what has happened to 807 KDV (Bl FLF/ECW) & UFC 426K (Dr CRL6/NC)?
Roberts, Rimbey. see Big Country Tours, Drumheller, above.
General
Charity Plus, Parksville. Around August/September of 2008, the collection of buses was removed from the site at Parksville,
and most were transferred to somewhere in Cassidy, BC, with 2 (RT/RTL ??) going somewhere else for restoration to
operational condition in time for 2010 – see http://www.theoddmuseum.com/ for more detail.
Double Decker Family Restaurants, -?-. It is probable that this company was located in Langley, BC, as MXX 246 was
pictured there in 4/80 as a static billboard for a restaurant of that name; however by the time another photograph was
taken in 1/84 at a different location in Langley, MXX 246 was devoid of all advertising and was just plain red/white. There
is an unconfirmed possible sighting of this bus in the Fraser Valley area in 2001 but otherwise nothing has been heard of it
since 1/84. Anyone visiting the Fraser Valley area is asked to be especially vigilant.
Gray Line of Victoria Ltd., Victoria. The latest news from this operator is that one-time New York and San Francisco Ld An
no. 407 is being refurbished and will be repainted in a new livery (green/cream?) which may become the new corporate
identity – full details in a later edition.
Royal Blue Line, Saanichton. The entire fleet (6 x FLF. 2 x VR, 2 x RM) has been laid up during the 2009 season and as
thus Royal Blue Line has not had a presence in Victoria this year; will it operate in 2010?
-?-, -?-, BC. HYT 578(?) was discovered in a barn in British Columbia, by5/00, and the owner said he wanted to sell (as
reported on Dick Gilbert’s Skyline Aviation site at the time). Only history known is that this vehicle was delivered to the
Ministry of Supply in 11/47, not certain whether it was a military or civilian example though its registration is believed to
have been HYT 578. It was reported that the engine (6 cylinder petrol) apparently runs sweetly, 38000 miles recorded,
