Geberit HDPEThe Drainage System

Diameters from 32 mm up to 315 mmGeberit HDPE is the total solutionfor all types of drainage includingabove ground, below ground andchemical waste. It provides theappropriate solution for every requirement:whether in residential orindustrial construction, for laboratories, conventionally installed or prefabricated, embedded in concreteor underground.Geberit HDPE pipes are tempered. Therefore tensions caused by themanufacturing no longer exist.Subsequent dimensional changesdo not occur. The pipes and a wide range of fittingsare available in sizes rangingfrom diameter 32 mm to 315 mm.The variety of fittings and jointingmethods ensure ease of installationin any application, allowing innovativedesign, compatible with any building.

Geberit HDPE: every connection is possibleThe butt weldThe simplest space-saving connectionis the butt weld. The connection caneither be made by using the weldingplate only (up to dimension of 70 mm)or the full set of a welding machine. The electroweld sleeve couplingis the ideal connection on-site, forsubsequent changes or whereveraccess is not easy. The expansion sockethas proven itself for compensationof thermal expansion in vertical orhorizontal installations. The screw-threaded jointis still a favourite detachableconnection. The ring seal socketSpace-saving connection forpipeline elements or appliancesconnections that are individuallyprefabricated. The flangea connection element for containersand apparatuses.

Geberit HDPE: outstanding material characteristicsThe inherent properties of high density polyethylene ensure that Geberit HDPE is a flexible, hard wearing and durable systemto suit almost any drainage application.QualitySevere internal and external controls by independent testing institutes secure perfect quality.Resistance to extremes of temperatureGeberit HDPE can be safely used as waste pipe for temperatures of up to 80°C. Temperatures ofup to 100°C are permissible for short periods (e.g. surges of steam). The system is equally suitedfor freezing temperatures and adapts elastically to cope with expansion, remaining completelyintact and undamaged after thawing.Licensed Geberit tempering processGeberit HDPE pipes undergo a licensed annealing process in hot water to reduce inherent tensilestresses created during manufacture. This process ensures long-term joint integrity, as thermalexpansion and reversion are reduced compared with untreated pipes.Impact resistanceGeberit HDPE is unbreakable at room temperature and offers excellent impact resistance even attemperatures of – 40°C, thus meeting the requirements for drainage systems.

Chemical resistanceGeberit HDPE also offers considerable resistance to chemicals, because of its paraffin structure. The system is insoluble in all inorganic or organic solutions at 20°C.Crush resistance & flexibilityThe flexibility of Geberit HDPE guarantees crush resistance and superior performance in applicationswhere pipes pass through expansion joints or are subject to traffic vibration.Resistance to abrasionDrainage systems are increasingly misused for "refuse chutes”. Hence a pipe’s resistance to abrasionis a particularly important factor for branch pipes, soil stacks and ground pipes. HDPE is veryresistant to abrasion, its extra thick walls offer superior protection from both internal and externalabrasion.LightweightGeberit HDPE combines toughness and durability with the advantage of being lightweight.

The processingManual butt weldingThe welding plate is especially suitable for welding dimensions up to ø 75 mm.Due to its light weight it can easily be used on-site.Machine butt weldingThe butt welding machines Media and Universal are for dimensions from50 – 160 mm (315 mm respectively). They are especially suitable for prefabricationoff site. The light-weight properties of the system allow specifiers andcontractors to design and build pipe runs away from a construction site.ElectroweldingThe Geberit electrofusion machine is ideal for use on construction site to createa fast, simple and reliable connection. Electroweld sleeve couplings are availablefrom ø 40 to 315 mm.

The applicationBuilding drainageGeberit HDPE can be used in installations in apartment buildings, industry andlaboratories. The wide range of jointing methods available for use ensures thatGeberit HDPE provides a solution for any application and guarantees that theinstallation is easy and quick.Installation in concreteThe flexibility, the easy processing and the abrasion resistance of the GeberitHDPE drainage system make it ideal for using the system in concrete.Underground drainageLike in domestic drainage systems, the choice of the material is also crucial forinstallation underground. The resistance to abrasion – internal and external, aswell as the crush resistance and flexibility enable to lay the Geberit HDPEsystem in the ground.
