It comprises allnecessary circuits for connection to adata circuit terminating equipment,DCE, and the circuits required for connectionto a secondary memory It alsocontains a two-wire interface for communicationwith other ERITEX units.Line displayThe front of the machine includes a linedisplay unit, fig. 6, above the keyboard,where a limited part of the stored textcan be shown. The display makes it possibleto check the input text. It is of a low profile type,with an average height of only 59 mmfrom the table to the keys. This enablesthe operator to work in the correct sittingposition.The keyboard comprises all keys andlight emitting diodes required to controland use ERITEX10. It also contains abuzzer with two different signals. Thesesignals are used for acknowledgementor fault indication. ERITEX10 has alphanumericalkeys and function keys, with alayout in accordance with the internationalstandard for an ordinary typewriter.The function keys are grouped outsidethe alphanumeric keys in such a waythat they are easy to find and combinewith other keys. The top row of alphanumerickeys is also used for functionsin combination with a command key.The alphanumeric keys give direct accessto 105 characters, but up to 308characters can be obtained by combiningkeys.At the ends of the keyboard there arefour controls with associated light emittingdiodes for setting- operating mode- line spacing- key pressure- character spacing.The keyboard is connected to the mainsystem bus via a special processor (keyboardCPU).Printing unitThe printing unit is of daisy-wheel typeand gives a printing speed of 16 charactersper second. The printer can beequipped with different wheels. Eachwheel has a set of 105 characters. Aneven greater range of characters can beobtained by combining these. A specialteletex wheel is used for internationalteletex traffic. Most characters in thelanguages originating from Latin can bewritten with the teletex wheel.Fig. 7The printing unit can be equipped with differentdaisy-wheels, including a teletex wheel for internationaltraffic.
