BLACKPOOL
ILLUMINATIONS
Considered by many to be the greatest free light show on earth
We are delighted to return with our popular coach holiday to Blackpool, Lancashire, with its spectacular
colourful illuminations. Considered by many to be the greatest free light show on earth, it has played a
major part in Blackpool’s calendar since 1879 with thousands of people visiting this mesmerising show of
lights every year. Traditionally the themes for the lights are kept secret, but you can be sure of a wonderful
display that stretches some fi ve miles along the sea front. We view the lights by coach and then you
could hop aboard one of the famous trams or just saunter along the prom! Of course, there is also all
the fun and sparkle which Blackpool offers all year round. Just along the coast we fi nd Fleetwood, one
of Britain’s largest fi shing ports, with its renowned market.
We visit Morecambe, most famous for its association with the much-loved comedian Eric Morecambe.
Look out over the panoramic sweep of Morecambe Bay, have a coffee or an ice cream in one of the cafes
lining the seafront, or visit the Eric Morecambe statue, immortalised in classic “Bring Me Sunshine” pose.
Within an hour we are on our full day tour of the Lake District, where there may be an opportunity to take
a lake cruise. Moving on, we follow Windermere’s wooded banks to Bowness and then continue with a
memorable drive over the Kirkstone Pass to Patterdale which is situated near Helvellyn, one of the most
impressive mountains in the UK.
Hotel – 3* Best Western Carlton Hotel
The Best Western Carlton Hotel enjoys a fantastic
seafront location, overlooking the beautiful Fylde
coast. Built at the turn of the century this hotel
boasts panoramic scenery across the Irish Sea,
as well as a ‘front row’ view along 12 miles of
sandy beaches and the famous Golden Mile! The
delightful bedrooms are equipped to the highest
standard, with many benefi ting from sea views. A
lift serves all fl oors.
LOCH LOMAND AND
THE TROSSACHS
The largest expanse of freshwater in Britain, the magnifi cent
landscapes of the Trossachs National Park and an 18th century
former Scottish Coaching Inn
Sample the wonderful hospitality at Drymen, a charming Scottish village situated a few miles from Loch
Lomond, and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There cannot be a more captivating place than
Loch Lomond. The area is renowned for its beauty and tranquility. The very name Loch Lomond conjures
images of noble mountains sweeping down to gentle foreshores.
We explore the beautiful scenery of the Trossachs, an area known as Scotland in Miniature, with its hills
and forests of green pine, delightful lochs and glens, against a dramatic, mountainous backdrop. On this
truly Scottish tour, we will also include visits to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
