Barbara Scheidcommented, “The GHS Drama team once again had a successful competition season intheir performance.”It isn’t as simple as just performing. The actors and actress have to memorize all theirlines, and anywhere they have to be on stage. The backstage crew has to learn how to useall the lights and sounds, create the set, make costumes, do make and placed everything onstage correctly for the performs. Along with that they only have 30 minutes to perform thewhole show, and 5 minutes before and after to set and clean thestage. The drama team has had fun with it though. Jena Aistrop said,“Drama is a way to express my creativity.” Cierra Riggsremarked, “We worked well together, we had some rough days butpulled together when it mattered most.” The Drama team did wellthis year. There will be a spring play, but the play has not beendecided on yet. Look for flyers and announcements for auditionsafter the holiday break. Good job Drama teamand good luck with your spring production.Above: Amber Stump and Taylor Williams6Brandon Wolfe, Amber Hurley, Carly White (Artistic Director)Taylor McCroskey and Elizabeth Meredith (front) Tucker White,Cati Journell, Emilee Cardin, Grant Muchler, Amber Stumps, andTaylor Williams (back) Not pictured: Cierra RiggsEvan Daniels, Murdock Link, TaylorWatson and Jacob Gann work lights andsound.
West Virginia Students By Devin Walls“I go to Giles for the education and because my mom worksover here. Some problems that I deal with is that I don’tknow much about Virginia history and I only knew a fewpeople when I started going here in in 8 th grade. It takes meanywhere between 30 - 40 minutes to get to school,”remarked Sophomore Kelsey Guy.“I go to GHS because schools here in Virginia give me moreacademic and athletic opportunities. It was mine and myparent’s choice to go to school in Giles in 9 th grade. The onlyproblem is it’s harder to hang out with my friends becausethey are farther away and it takes about 20 minutes to get toschool,” commented Sophomore Tori Belcher.“I go to Giles High School because unlike other schoolsGiles doesn’t have a block schedule .I started going to Gilesin 9 th grade. Living in West Virginia has its days it take 30minutes to get here I just have to wake up early and get outof the house,” says Sophomore Jarred Cook.Images from Google.7
