GED® TEST PREPARATION PROGRAM®Do you need your high school diploma to get a job, to advance to a better paying position, to takecollege courses or just for personal satisfaction? Designed for students who have not completed<strong>the</strong>ir formal high school education, <strong>the</strong> GED® program may be right for you. Our classes will prepareyou to take <strong>the</strong> GED® exam administered by <strong>the</strong> State of Connecticut. Accommodations on<strong>the</strong> GED® test are available for qualified individuals with a disability. (There is no charge for materials or for <strong>the</strong> State Mandated Courses).Eligibility: Applicants for <strong>the</strong> test must be 17 years of age or older and no longer inschool. Applicants 17 and 18 years of age must submit documentation that <strong>the</strong>y have beenwithdrawn from high school for at least six months or that <strong>the</strong>ir 9th grade class has graduatedin order to take <strong>the</strong> test. (Students 17 - 19 must also present documentation of withdrawalfrom high school in order to enroll in GED® classes. Bring your documentation with youwhen you register for classes.)Fees: For applicants over <strong>the</strong> age of 21, <strong>the</strong>re is a $13.00 fee to take <strong>the</strong> GED®Tests. For veterans and applicants under <strong>the</strong> age of 21, <strong>the</strong>re is no fee. To retake or reapplyfor <strong>the</strong> test, <strong>the</strong>re is a $13.00 fee.Testing: Tests are administered monthly. Applicants must register approximately onemonth prior to <strong>the</strong> desired test date. Call adult education for more testing details.ABOUT THE GED®:The GED® test has 5 sections:Writing/GrammarScienceMa<strong>the</strong>maticsSocial StudiesLiterature and <strong>the</strong> ArtsThe test is offered on 2 Saturdays or 3 evenings once a monthAdults who do not pass <strong>the</strong> GED® test do not have to retake <strong>the</strong> entire test. They mayretake only <strong>the</strong> necessary sections.
