The AESS archive has as its purpose the conservation, consultation, <strong>an</strong>demploy of documents <strong>an</strong>d images regard<strong>in</strong>g the life <strong>an</strong>d social tr<strong>an</strong>s<strong>for</strong>mation, theliterature, the oral history, <strong>an</strong>d the cultural artifacts of the Lombard region. TheAESS web site have been designed <strong>an</strong>d implemented at the CNR – ITC Unit ofMil<strong>an</strong> <strong>for</strong> the project promoted by the Lombard Region, (the Direzione generaleCulture, Identità e Autonomie della Lombardia), <strong>an</strong>d Interreg II Internum projectof the Europe<strong>an</strong> Union. The archive of the AESS web site stores <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mationconcern<strong>in</strong>g the oral history of the Lombard region: it is ma<strong>in</strong>ly composed ofpopular songs <strong>an</strong>d other audio <strong>an</strong>d <strong>video</strong> records describ<strong>in</strong>g the popular traditionsh<strong>an</strong>ded down generation by generation, such as traditional fairs, <strong>an</strong>d customs.
