featuresHIGHLY FLEXIBLE COUPLINGSVULKARDAN L, VULKARDAN PWhen the driven machine is not in line with the prime mover orwhen long distances have to be bridged, cardan shafts are used.With a diesel engine as the prime mover, a highly flexible couplingwill be required for shifting resonances and damping of torsionalvibration. This coupling protects the cardan shaft and the drivenmachinery from inadmissible vibratory loads. The highly flexibleVULKARDAN L&P couplings have been specifically developed forapplication in conjunction with cardan shafts. The main componentsof the VULKARDAN L&P coupling are the highly flexible elementand the inner and outer couplings parts supported againsteach other. The elements have a high torsional flexibility and gooddamping properties. On to the support additional damping isachieved.Vulkardan L is suitable for all those applications requiring lineartorsional stiffness characteristics, while Vulkardan P couplingis characterized by progressive torsional stiffness feature.
