Policies andProceduresThis section outlines some of the university rulesand regulations with direct significance to studentsand provides referrals for further information.Students are expected to obey federal, state andlocal laws, and in addition must abide by the rulesand regulations of the university. Students foundin violation of the Student Code of Conduct shallbe subject to the range of sanctions available tothe university that include but are not limited toreprimand, probation, suspension and dismissal.The university makes every reasonable effort tomake copies of the rules and regulations widelyavailable and students are responsible for becomingfamiliar with them. Revisions of rules and regulationsare publicized to the campus community. Universityrules and regulations are available online and inLangsam Library, college offices, Student Affairs &Services offices, and the Board of Trustees office.If you have a question about a rule or regulation,contact the University Ombuds (607 Swift Hall) orone of the Student Affairs & Services offices.The University of Cincinnati may notify the parentsor legal guardians of any student who is under theage of 21 and who has been found to be in violationof the Student Code of Conduct with respect toany federal, state or local law or university policygoverning the use or possession of alcohol or acontrolled substance. It was introduced to the universitycommunity during the 2012 convocation ceremony.There will be various programs and events designto incorporate the Bearcat Bond into your dailyactivities. Hazing is defined as participatingin or allowing any act or coercing another, includingthe victim, to do any act for initiation or continuedparticipation in any student or other campusorganization that creates a substantial risk ofcausing mental or physical harm to any person.A forced or coerced activity is also consideredhazing when the initiation of admission into orcontinued affiliation with a university organizationis directly or indirectly conditional upon performingthat activity. In no event will the willingness of anindividual to participate in such an activity affect thispresumption.If you have a question or complaint about hazing,you should contact Student Activities & LeadershipDevelopment (Steger Student Life Center).Alleged violations of the Hazing Policy (UniversityRule 3361:40-3-12) will be investigated by theappropriate offices and judicial bodies. Individualsand organizations found in violation are subject touniversity disciplinary action. In compliance with theuniversity rule, violations of the law will be reportedto civil authorities for prosecution.
