Thesystem is especially valuable when it comes to landingin the ship cell, where it is much harder for the craneoperator to visually gauge the spreader’s distance fromthe top of the container, or on jib-crane spreaders,where the crane cab is far away from the vessel. HISallows the crane operator approach a container at asuitable speed, while at the same time enabling thecrane driver to limit hard impacts.18SCS 2 SPREADER CONTROL SYSTEMThe SCS 2 system delivers advanced monitoring anddiagnostic information, which means that spreaderservice staff can react faster to fault events. Instead ofinvestigating possible sources of fault events one by one,the SCS 2 gives service technicians specific, preciseinformation – information that lets them move quicklyfrom investigating problems to solving them. The SCS 2system also prevents fault events, as SCS 2simplifies the spreader. SCS 2 eliminates or minimizesjunction boxes, terminal strips, terminal ends, relays,and DIN rails – areas where wire breakage is common.Conventional wiring is reduced, and what wiringremains is heavy-duty.
