INFANT & JUNIOR DEPARTMENT: Prep—2Dear Parents,We have come to the end of another busy term. I wouldlike to thank all the prep teachers including Ms SonmezOkten, Ms Bahar Ulukan, Ms Emine Demet and GulcanAyvaz for all their hard work and dedication. There are a number of parents, students and teachersgoing overseas. I would like to wish all of our families ahappy and safe holiday. I would like to inform my GradePrep C parents that l will also be taking some time offand will be away for the first few weeks of Term 3. I willbe visiting family and friends in Turkey. The health and wellbeing of our children is always of primaryimportance. A child’s socialisation takes place athome, school and in the community. In each of these settingsa child will be exposed to factors that will shape hisor her development in positive or other ways.Parents can encourage confidence, resilience and positivebehaviour in their child by:• encouraging good behaviour• listening, asking and communicating with theirchild.• seeking advice from your child’s teacher or aprofessional.• encourage friendships – school friends, familyand neighbours.• encourage independence- teach them problemsolving and organization skills• encourage your child to get involved in a sportclub or group.• maintain a routine- this will reduce stress anddevelop self-discipline.• provide supervision- children need to know theyare safe.• be consistent- if your child know what you expectof them, they will feel safe.Next tern our unit of work will be the Weather unit. Wewill be going to Scienceworks and visiting the Planetarium.Best Wishes for the winter holiday season,Prep CoordinatorMrs Ozlem OflayLastThursdayand Friday our Grade 1s hada wonderful and invaluableexcursion to the MelbourneZoo.They had the opportunityto see, first hand, awide range of wild animals intheir habitats. In the DiscoveryCentre we had close contact with animals with differentcoverings – Fur, Feathers, Scales and Skin in smallgroups. It was awesome to hold the Desert Dragon and theshingle back lizards. The Californian King Snake was cold totouch and the tiny monkey called “BabyFace” was very playful despite her age of27 years (this equates to 90 humanyears). We enjoyed watching her antics. As the pictures tell... It was a great dayfor all.Grade 1 TeamPage 2
