The service is available free-of-charge to patients and their families. Interpretingservices are available around the clock, in many different languages, either in person or over thetelephone. Designed specially for the comfort and convenience of pediatric cancerpatients and their families, the Jimmy Fund Clinic follows the "total patient care" philosophy ofInstitute founder Dr. Sidney Farber, assuring that a patient's psychological, family, and spiritualneeds are met as well their medical needs.Kohl's Center for Families: The Kohl's Center for Families at Children's Hospital Boston isdedicated to helping families find the information and resources they need to understand theirchild's medical condition and take part in their care. All patients, families and professionals arewelcome to benefit from the services provided by the Center. Chaplains from DFCI, BWH and CHB offer religious and/or spiritual support 24hours per day for patients and families. The team of providers and parents supports treatment ofthe underlying illness and, at the same time, strives for optimal quality of life. Through a familycenteredapproach, the team promotes healing, comfort, and making childhood experiencesmeaningful. 617-632-5042.Pediatric Patient and Family Advisory Council (PPFAC). The PPFAC is an advocacy group forteen and child patients and their families. Its members are active partners with DF/CHCC increating and improving the healthcare and services provided to patients and families.Pediatric Psychosocial Program: With the diagnosis and treatment of cancer come manyemotional and practical challenges. As a key part of the care provided at DFCI and CHB, thedepartment provides a wide range of support services to patients and their families. Staff havespecial expertise in the social, emotional, and psychological aspects of pediatric cancer care. ThePediatric Psychosocial Unit includes social workers, psychologists, a resource specialist, and aspecial educator.
