Within Zagreb County, there are 69<br />
common open hunting grounds and<br />
14 state owned hunting grounds, two<br />
state owned duck breeding grounds<br />
with significant game reserves,<br />
and approximately 3500 hunters.<br />
Hunting is prohibited in the three<br />
protected nature sites in the County.<br />
The total hunting area covers<br />
266,886 hectares (while the total<br />
non-hunting area totals 63,465 hectares).<br />
Hunting rights in the hunting<br />
grounds are primarily held by the<br />
hunting associations. Within Zagreb<br />
County, 53 hunting lodges have been<br />
constructed, mostly owned by the<br />
hunting associations. Hunting associations<br />
are also owners <strong>of</strong> approximately<br />
30 firing ranges for trap shooting,<br />
<strong>of</strong> which four qualify as Olympic categories.<br />
The main wild game species<br />
are roe deer, boar, rabbit, pheasant,<br />
grey partridge and wild duck.<br />

FISHING TOURISM<br />
The Zagreb County Sports-Fishing<br />
Federation includes 3700 adults and<br />
400 members aged 7-14 years. There<br />
are a total <strong>of</strong> 23 associations, <strong>of</strong><br />
which 19 associations hold water<br />
management rights, while 4 associations<br />
are in the Jastrebarsko mutual<br />
sports-fishing association. Approximately<br />
200 members from 15 associations<br />
are active in competitions,<br />
while the other associations have a<br />
more economic-recreational character.<br />
The associations holding fishing<br />
rights have their own waters (lakes)<br />
which they care for by investing and<br />
including: fishing huts, tables and<br />
benches, barbeques, maintained walking<br />
trails, children’s playgrounds etc.<br />
Other associations which operate in<br />
the Country are competition oriented<br />
societies.<br />
