Our certificates <strong>and</strong>professional concentrations aredirected primarily to a local U.S.audience on a part-time eveningbasis <strong>and</strong> provide rigorouspostgraduate coursework forworking professionals who wish toadvance their careers or develop newareas of expertise.UC Davis <strong>and</strong> UC Davis Extensionare known for their interdisciplinaryresearch <strong>and</strong> learning approaches,creating real world collaborationsto apply best practices to realworld, complex challenges. Thisapproach is increasingly of interestto an international audience. Mostprofessional classes are held atUC Davis Extension’s Sutter SquareGalleria in downtown Sacramentoduring the evening, daytime or onthe weekend.International professionals interestedin coming to Davis <strong>and</strong> takingcoursework in these exciting areasof study are encouraged to considerenrollment in our ProfessionalStudies Program. Here, studentswork with an adviser to createa program of full-time study,composed of certificate courses,other professional coursework,advanced English languagecoursework <strong>and</strong> appropriatecampus classes. Studentscan supplement their UC DavisExtension coursework in severalways. Coursework may includeundergraduate <strong>and</strong>/or professionalcourses in a wide variety of fields atUC Davis (more than 100 majors)on a space-available basis. Studentsare also eligible to enroll in aVolunteer Experiences course togain valuable working experiencein their career area or field of study(see pages 15-16 for more details).Students may also take a full rangeof English <strong>and</strong> academic preparationcourses in the IEPP. One onlinecourse per term is also possible.How many classes can I take?Courses are typically a mix ofUC Davis Extension certificatecourses, advanced English languagecourses, community service <strong>and</strong>/orone or two campus classes. A fulltimecourse load consists of 12-16units or the equivalent. Coursessuccessfully completed earn fullacademic credit.
