The datamessages will be exchanged after a successful session is established. A message header of formatspecified in Table II is attached to each message transmitted across the link.Table I Data Message TypesType Description Source Recipient Format1 Digital Radar Data RDA RPG Table III2* RDA Status Data RDA RPG/RMS Table IV3* Performance/Maintenance Data RDA RPG/RMS Table V4 Console Message RDA RPG/RMS Table VI5* Volume Coverage Pattern RDA RPG Table XI6 RDA Control Commands RPG RDA Table X7 Volume Coverage Pattern RPG RDA Table XI8 Clutter Censor Zones RPG RDA Table XII9 Request for Data RPG RDA Table XIII10 Console Message RPG RDA/RMS Table VI11 Loop Back Test RDA RPG Table VIII12 Loop Back Test RPG RDA Table VIII13* Clutter Filter Bypass Map RDA RPG Table IX14 Spare N/A N/A N/A15* Clutter Filter Map RDA RPG Table XIV16 Reserved/FAA RMS Only N/A N/A N/A17 Reserved/FAA RMS Only N/A N/A N/A18* RDA Adaptation Data RDA RPG/RMS Table XV20 Reserved N/A N/A N/A21 Reserved N/A N/A N/A22 Reserved N/A N/A N/A23 Reserved N/A N/A N/A24 Reserved/FAA RMS only N/A N/A N/A25 Reserved/FAA RMS only N/A N/A N/A26 Reserved/FAA RMS only N/A N/A N/A31 Digital Radar Data Generic RDA RPG Table XVIIFormat* = metadata3.2.2.1 Messages from RDAPer Table I, data transmitted from the RDA to the RPG consists of Digital Radar Data (Message 1)or Digital Radar Data Generic Format (Message 31) plus RDA Status Data (Message 2), RDAPerformance/Maintenance Data (Message 3), Console Messages (Message 4), Volume CoveragePattern Data (Message 5), Loop Back Test (Message 11), Clutter Filter Bypass Map (Message 13),Clutter Filter Map (Message 15) and RDA Adaptation Data (Message 18).Digital Radar Data format is given in Table III, RDA Status Data format is given in Table IV, RDAPerformance/Maintenance Data format is given in Table V, Console Message format is given in TableVI, Volume Coverage Pattern Data is given in Table XI, Loop Back Test format is given in TableVIII, Clutter Filter Bypass Map format is given in Table IX, Clutter Filter Map Data is given in table3-6
Document Number 2620002GCode Identification 0WY55WSR-88D ROCTBDDUAL POL - DRAFTXIV, RDA Adaptation Data is given in Table XV, and Digital Radar Data Generic Format is given inTable XVII.The RDA sends the ICD formatted message to the RPG. At the RPG end, the communicationsmanager (RPG software task) inserts an additional 12 bytes to the ICD format message. Thecommunications manager also inserts a communications manager header to the message, and thenthe message is sent to the RPG ingest application. This is also the same information, which is sentto the Base Data Distribution System (BDDS) processor.3.2.2.1.1 Metadata Message Types and PurposeThe capability to perform Level II recording has been moved from the RDA to the RPG. In order tocontinue to provide Metadata for Level II, the following Message Types need to be sent from the RDAto the RPG (see Table I) along with Message Type 1, Digital Radar Data or Message Type 31, DigitalRadar Data Generic Format:2 - RDA Status Data3 - Performance/Maintenance Data5 - Volume Coverage Pattern Data13 - Clutter Filter Bypass Map Data15 - Clutter Filter Map Data18 - RDA Adaptation DataThe RDA will send messages 2, 3, 5, 13, 15 and 18 upon wideband connection and prior to going to"OPERATE" state. The RDA will send messages 2, 3 and 5 prior to sending message 1 at the beginning of each VCP.The RDA will send message 13 whenever there is a change to the Clutter Filter Bypass Map Data. The RDA will send message 15 whenever there is a change to Clutter Filter Map Data. The RDA will send message 18 whenever there is a change to RDA Adaptation Data.3.2.2.2 Messages from RPGPer Table I, data to be transmitted from the RPG to the RDA consists of:RDA Control Commands (Message 6) , Volume Coverage Patterns data (Message 7), Clutter CensorZones data (Message 8), Requests for Data (Message 9), Console Messages (Message 10) and LoopBack Test (Message 12).RDA Control Command format is given in Table X, Volume Coverage Pattern format is given inTable XI, Clutter Censor Zones format is given in Table XII, Requests for Data format is given inTable XIII, Console Messages format is given in Table VI and Loop Back Test messages format inTable VIII. The transmitted message to the RDA will then consist of the RDA/RPG ICD formatmessage (i.e., message header followed by message data).3.2.3 Message DescriptionsThe following sections define the message formats exchanged via this interface. The Message Header, as defined in Table II, is appended to the beginning of all messagestransmitted between the RDA and the RPG. The Message Header identifies system configuration, message number of information following the header, date, time and number of segments to betransmitted for messages exceeding 1208 halfwords, including the Message Header. Messages withlengths greater than 1208 halfwords (2416 bytes) are divided into multiple segments, each with amaximum length of 1208 halfwords. For messages with length less than 1208 halfwords, the numberof message segments is one and the individual segment number in the Message Header is notapplicable.3-7
