St. Patrick's Day is a day <strong>of</strong> national joyful celebration treasured by <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Irelandboth at home and in <strong>the</strong>ir many adopted homelands throughout our world. Saint Patrick is <strong>the</strong> patron saintand national apostle <strong>of</strong> Ireland. St. Patrick is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland; andWhizlizfi'8). <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> Saint Patrick's Day Parade Committee hosts aseries <strong>of</strong> events during <strong>the</strong> month <strong>of</strong> March which exemplifies <strong>the</strong> love <strong>of</strong> Ireland and <strong>the</strong> Irìsh culture and.heritage; andWhizlizfi8). <strong>the</strong> Annual Flag-Raising Ceremony will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012. In observance,<strong>the</strong> tri-colored Irish flag, which symbolizes peace by joining <strong>the</strong> Emerald Green <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Republic with <strong>the</strong>Orange <strong>of</strong> Ulster by a field <strong>of</strong> white, shall be raised above <strong>City</strong> Hall for <strong>the</strong> month <strong>of</strong> March.
