Principal’s Letter Cover Story Spotlight StudentsDong earns <strong>Stephen</strong> T. <strong>Badin</strong> medal forClass of <strong>2011</strong>When people think of the Class of <strong>2011</strong> at <strong>Badin</strong><strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>, the name of Raymond Dong will be amemorable one.Dong earned the <strong>Stephen</strong> T. <strong>Badin</strong> Medal as themost outstanding member of the senior class. Theaward capped an impressive career for Dong, the covaledictorianwho is now a freshman at the Universityof Chicago, majoring in pre-med.“Raymond really made his presence felt in the Classof <strong>2011</strong>,’’ outgoing BHS principal Frank Margello.“He was a tremendous student, active in the schoolcommunity, athletics, graduate-level research – youname it, Raymond did it. He truly earned this award.”Other graduation medal winners included:• Brianna Listermann, the Archbishop Altermedal, honoring the highest contribution to faithlife. Listermann is attending Miami UniversityHamilton and majoring in pre-nursing.• Britney McGraw, the Archbishop Leibold medal,honoring the highest level of service to the schooland the community. She is attending the OhioState University and majoring in business.• Jimin Seo, the Archbishop McNicholas medal,honoring the highest level of academicachievement. Seo, from South Korea, was anInternational student who attended <strong>Badin</strong> forfour years while living with her aunt and uncle inOxford. She joined Dong as the co-valedictorian,despite taking classes in what is not her nativelanguage. She is attending the University ofSouthern California and majoring in pre-med.“These medals are a great graduation night honor,’’Margello said, “but we look at them as both rewardand motivation – reward for what the students haveaccomplished at <strong>Badin</strong>, and motivation to do thatmuch more going forward. This is just the start ofmany good things for these four students.”Graduation for the 117 members of the Class of<strong>2011</strong> took place on Friday, June 3, at St. MaximilianKolbe Church in Liberty Township.
