He was an assistant languageteacher in Watari Town, MiyagiPrefecture, which was one of the hardesthit areas by the ensuing tsunami.He evacuated safely to an emergencyshelter.Brian Connaughton ’90 continuesto make the Flub’s ice cream name abig success in the Hamilton-Fairfieldarea. Flub’s is now selling four of its40 flavors in the Fairfield Kroger onWessel Drive. The ice cream is availablein three sizes. “We’re kind of afamily tradition,’’ Connaughton toldthe Hamilton JournalNews. “That, intoken with using the best qualityingredients I can, keeps people comingback.”Kim Kraft Richter ’90 has beennamed the girls head basketball coachat Talawanda <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> in Oxford.She had previously been the headcoach at Cincinnati Christian <strong>High</strong>.John Lanni ‘99 was featured in aCincinnati Enquirer article regardingthe Currito’s chain of restaurants thatfeature “burritos without borders.” Heand his brother, Joe, founded the restaurantchain. They have two locationsin Greater Cincinnati, one inCleveland, and 11 more across thecountry – with plans to open more.Graham Crain ’02 is the coordinatorof Student Recreational Life atCalifornia Lutheran University inThousand Oaks, Calif. He overseesintramurals, facilities and fitness toenhance student life on campus. Heand his wife, Jenna, live in VenturaCounty.Chris Giuliano ‘02 is a professor ofpharmacy at Wayne State Universityin Detroit. He and his wife have twochildren, a boy and a girl.Heather Huesing ’03 earned herdoctorate in Physical Therapy fromthe University of Dayton. A 2008graduate of Wright State University,Heather is continuing her studies atthe University of Tennessee, as aresident in the Orthopedic Specialtyprogram.Abby Leisge ’04 lives in Abilene,Texas, and is a practicing physicaltherapist with the Hendricks Hospitalnetwork there. She graduated cumlaude from the University of Dayton in2008 with a degree in ExerciseScience and Pre-Physical Therapy. Shethen went on to the MedicalUniversity of South Carolina inCharleston, where she earned herdoctorate in Physical Therapy andearned a Presidential Scholarshipaward.Aaron Chapin ’05 is a petty officeraboard the USS Carl Vinson, the Navalaircraft carrier from which Osama binLaden’s body was buried at sea onMonday, May 2. Aaron is attached toan air squadron aboard the carrier,which was due back in U.S. port inJuly <strong>2011</strong> after an extensive deployment.He has been in the Navy sinceMay 2006.Andy Flick ’05 is the press secretaryand a legislative aide for U.S. Rep. JimCosta, a Democrat who representsFresno, Calif., in California’s 20 thDistrict. Andy lives and works inWashington, D.C.Betsy Fox ‘05 is employed at theHospice of Dayton (Ohio). Her degreeis in Communication Arts fromWilmington College.The <strong>2011</strong> GCL Alumni Golf Tournament at Wetherington was another greatevent. The <strong>Badin</strong> team came in 2nd place with an average net team scoreof 76.0. <strong>Badin</strong> players were Doug Lutz, Steve Lutz, Don Crain, John Maloneand Tim Staarmann. The <strong>Badin</strong> Ram appeared to help get the event startedand to celebrate the 2010 first place <strong>Badin</strong> team!Suzanne Fuhrman ’05 graduatedfrom the <strong>School</strong> of Public Health andTropical Medicine at Tulane Universityin New Orleans. She received aMaster’s of Public Health, majoring inInternational Health. She spent timein Uganda in early <strong>2011</strong>, as a monitoringand evaluation intern withWellShare International, working onprojects related to nutrition, familyplanning and HIV prevention. She wasthen set to work with ConcernWorldwide in Ethiopia on researchrelated to community-based managementof acute malnutrition.20
