NEW STUEDNT ASSOCIATON:
MBS Strategy
With the start of the Fall semester
2009, a new student initiative
– the fifth at Munich Business
School – has been founded.
MBS Strategy – this stands for a
public image organized by the
students concerning all issues.
The members of MBS Strategy
represent MBS at trade fairs all
over Germany and actively support
MBS Preview Days and information
events. Other projects
targeted for the coming semester
are an MBS image movie, setting
up a blog project for semesters
abroad, and a tutoring program
for freshmen.
It is imperative that our initiative
is always able to function efficiently.
For this reason we are unfortunately
not able to include all
interested students. A special application
process was set up for
this purpose.
You can find the details at
You can also always find the latest
information concerning MBS
Strategy and MBS on our homepage.
We are looking forward to working
with you!
MBS innovate!
– The Entrepreneurial Initiative
MBS innovate!, the student initiative regarding
entrepreneurship, was founded
at the beginning of the Fall semester
2008 at the suggestion of Christian Klemenz
together with Ann-Cathrin von Rechenberg,
Christoph Auffermann, René
Zimmermann, Martin Striegl, Peter Hall,
and Benjamin Hubner. We want to specifically
foster student start-ups with this initiative,
with the following two primary
goals: First, to offer the members interested
in start-ups support for their first
step into self-employment, and second,
to encourage the student body to become
active as entrepreneurs.
MBS Invest
The goal of MBS Invest e. V. is to give interested
students the possibility to gain a
broader insight in addition to the finance
and stock-market lectures at university.
We see ourselves as a contact point between
the theoretic lectures at university
and the real activity going on in the financial
markets. The current executive board
consists of Daniel Krome, Saskia Jarik, and
Marc Fischer.
We were able to once again win over
MBS alumnus Matthias Lamberti as lecturer
for a 20-unit lecture. Starting with
the Fall semester 2009, this optional lecture
will be accredited on the part of
MBS. This means that in addition to their
certificate of attendance, participants
also receive two ECTS credits. Matthias
Lamberti is an Investment Strategy Advisor
for Reuschel & Co. and was thus able
to bring well-grounded knowledge into
this year’s lecture.
We already finished our first larger project
successfully: The Munich Venture
Summit (see page 4). The conference offered
students interested in starting their
own businesses and start-ups, as well as
investors, a platform for interaction and
a basis for networking. Especially for students,
both after and already during the
course of studies, starting a company is
one option of planning their career that
has received little attention. That is why it
is our goal to show students unimagined
room for the development of entrepreneurship,
so that in the future the question
will not be “Where do you want to
work after grad-uation?” but rather
“What do you want to start up after graduation?”.
Your MBS innovate! team
Due to his very appealing lectures and
practical experience, the association enjoyed
high popularity among students, so
that we currently have 30 active members.
As part of the lecture, the MBS Invest
team, together with Mr. Lamberti,
organized an interesting guest lecture by
David Bussmann (UBS Zürich) on the
topic “A new phase for hedge funds –
bringing practical insight to alternative investments.”
This semester, we have planned
a forum dealing with investments
that conform to Islam and related topics
such as Behavioral Finance.
Goals for the subsequent semesters include
achieving non-profit status, expanding
our areas of activity, and organizing
additional guest lectures.
