States Watchhas formed working teams in several affected areas and areassisting official machinery by distributing food packets,utensils, medical kits and water. The frontal organizationsactivists are keeping strict vigil over the on-going reliefmeasures undertaken by the Gujarat state governmentmachinery to control irregularities if any.Shri Sudhakar Reddy personally monitored the reliefoperations by the Congress frontal organizations and alsoparticipated in the meeting conducted by the Baroda CongressCommittee for flood relief programme.On the occasion, the DPCC president, Shri Ram Babu Sharmaexhorted the health. This happened to be the pet project ofShri Sanjay Gandhi.The tree-plantation drive was launched on the banks of riverYamuna near Chandgiram Akhara at the ISBT in North Delhi.The drive was inaugurated by Shri Sharma by planting asapling of Pilkhan tree.The programme at the Chandgiram Akhara was moderated by ShriJagjivan Sharma. Nehru Brigade Chairman, Shri Ramesh Dutta anda large number of Congress functionaries were also present at thefunction. Besides Shri Ram Babu Sharma, other prominent leaderspresent were DPCC vice president, Shri Raj Kumar Kohli, ShriDheerender Tyagi, Shri Sunil Bajaj, Shri Parasram Sharma, ShriRakesh Verma, Shri Sudershan Awasthi, Shri Tinkle Singh Bindra,Shri Ajit Yadav, Ms. Alka Lamba, Dr. Banarasi Dass, Shri Zakir Beg,Shri Arun Malik, Shri Rajiv Behl, Smt Razia Inshallah, Shri SatishMittal, Shri Dharmender Tomar, Smt. Vimmi Ghai and Shri SanjayJain. At the tree-plantation drive organized by the Block CongressCommittees the MP, area MlAs, Municipal Councillors and prominentlocal leaders participated. At over 100 places, the tree-plantationdrive was simultaneously launched on June 23.Frontal Organisations Help in ReliefOperationNEW DELHI: AICC secretary and incharge of Frontal organizations,Shri P. Sudhakar Reddy visited the flood-affected Gujarat statefrom 4 to 6 July. During his visit to averse the flood-reliefprogramme he visited Ahmedabad, Dehgam, Kheda, Anand,Baroda, Nadiad and some interior villages.The flood-relief programme of the Congress frontalorganization was specially carried out by NSUI, YouthCongress, Sewa Dal and Mahila Congress. The state NSUIShri Reddy also received complaints that state minister foreducation, Shri Anandi Patel and state Law Minister, ShriAshok Bhatt were putting RSS and VHP labels on the reliefmaterial collected by the voluntary agencies beforedispatching them to affected areas.Shri Reddy alleged that in Dehgam, where over 10,000families have been affected, no revenue official or ministerhas visited the area or given any cash assistance. The reliefmaterial has also not reached interior villages of Nadiaddistrict, he alleged.Call to Dalits to Unite Under CongressNEW DELHI: The SC, ST (Dalit) Congress leaders from UttarPradesh organized a meeting at the AICC headquarters here on18 June. The meeting was addressed by Union Minister, ShriMahavir Prasad, UPCC president, Shri Salman Khursheed, ShriJai Kishan, secretary incharge of UP, Shri Raj Bahadur, Shri MataPrasad, Shri Ram Lal Rahi, Shri Prabhu Dayal Kathariya, ShriNaresh Balmiki, Shri A.P.
