<strong>Bremen</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>2006-2007 <strong>School</strong> Report Card“We Have Pride”Dear Parent/Guardian:We are excited to inform you about some of the positive things that are happening at <strong>Bremen</strong> <strong>High</strong><strong>School</strong>. The enclosed report card, listing statistics, student participation and other information is the 21 stedition of this report. We present this information to you so that you are informed about the educationalprogress and classroom strengths at <strong>Bremen</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>.One of our goals at <strong>Bremen</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> is to create an atmosphere where all students are able to reachtheir potential. Our teachers and staff work diligently to create curriculum and execute daily lessons thatwill challenge students at every academic level. Our program of studies, together with our supportservices, student activities and athletics, provides our students with every opportunity needed for success.In fact, we believe that <strong>Bremen</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> is a small school that offers big opportunities.We believe that with an education from <strong>Bremen</strong> our students can go on and accomplish whatever theydesire. With this in mind, we have asked our students to accomplish the following three tasks:1. Come Prepared Daily2. Have A Great Attitude Daily3. Set Goals For Yourself – Short and Long TermWe believe if our students work to address the three tasks above, they will be successful in both schooland life.At <strong>Bremen</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> we will continue to promote parent involvement within our school. For example,the Parent Involvement Group meets the third Monday of the month. We currently have meetingsscheduled for November, February, March and April. We encourage feedback and ask for assistance atthese meetings so we can strive to provide a positive experience for all students. In addition, we havemany parents involved in booster clubs for both athletics and activity programs.We ask that you examine the attached report card closely. The scores and statistics presented provide anexcellent opportunity for a community member to understand their school. It is also important to keep inmind that judgment about any school or district should not be based on a single day of testing. ABOUT OUR SCHOOL<strong>Bremen</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>’s enrollment for the 2006–2007 school year was 1238 students, drawn from thecommunities of Midlothian, Markham, Posen and Harvey. This is an increase of 51 students from the previous year. Wecurrently have 1295 students for the 2007–2008 school year.The student body at <strong>Bremen</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> has a long tradition of academic success and the senior class of 2006-07continued to show great achievement. Twenty-three students were recognized as Illinois State Scholars, twenty-eightstudents received the President’s Award for Educational Achievement and four students received the President’s Awardfor Excellence. This class was offered $2,044,313 and accepted $1,106,813 worth of college scholarships.One of the major contributing factors to academic success is student attendance. Our average student attendancerate was 91.9%. Our Graduation rate for the class of 2006-07 was 90%.STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTSOur graduation rate for the past year was 90%, and all members of the class of 2007 took the ACT test, which isthe most popular test used for enrollment in colleges and universities in the Midwest. The class of 2007 had a compositescore on the ACT of 18.7. Our average score in English was 17.9 and our average in Math was 19.2.Our <strong>School</strong> Improvement goals are to improve performance in the areas of reading and mathematics as well asimprovement in attendance! Please encourage your child to attend school each and every day!We encourage high academic performance along with extra curricular participation.
