Robert AlagjozovskiMacedoniaI am a Skopje-based freelance researcher and cultural manager, as well as an arts andcultural critic. I hold an MA in Comparative Literature and am currently a PhD candidate atSkopje University, focusing on local development through culture. Since the 2000s, I havebeen involved in many projects on cultural decentralisation, interculturalism and regionalor international cooperation. I am the founder and project manager of the independentCultural Center Tocka in Skopje and the former president of the Brussels-based Oracle networkof European cultural managers. I am also a trainer for the Marcel Hicter European Diploma in Cultural ProjectManagement, as well as being a member of the Independent Writers of Macedonia and of the editorial board ofSarajevo Notebook magazine.Tower PowerTower Power exhibits critical art on the walls of Balkans city towers in acommunity inspired “reconquering the public space” project.TOWER POWER is a project aimed at developingopen space galleries for critical art in the Balkancapitals. It will use the vertical walls of landmark citytowers to exhibit pieces of visual and conceptual artby artists selected via an international call. This is acommunity inspired “reconquering the public space”project. The emerging issues will be developedtogether with local residents. The project leaderswill work with the urban communities to highlightthe power that the exposed tower walls can have toconvey important topics to the public. The process ofassessing the locally important issues will take placein all the countries of the partnership in parallel andwill be facilitated by the project leaders. Internationalartists and the curatorial team will then develop visualor conceptual art projects from the issues raised.The goal is to tackle the democratic deficit and nonresponsivegovernance in the South-East Europeregion.8
