I am also a member of the Ukrainian Library Association (ULA) and servedas in-country coordinator for the IFLA Building Stronger Library Associations (BSLA)programme (2010-2012).I hold an MSc in Non-profit Management from the New School University in New York City, a Master’s degreein Project Management from the University of Economics and Law “KROK” in Kiev; a Bachelor of BusinessAdministration (Management) and a Computer Information Systems degree from the International Christian University(ICU) in Kiev.Library-Supported LocalTourism in KievULA presents the idea of promoting cultural and historical awareness and the role oflibrary-supported local tourism in Kiev.The Ukrainian Library Association (ULA) presents theidea of promoting cultural and historical awarenessand the role of library-supported local tourism througha series of free, customised Kiev city tours offered inUkrainian and English. These will be tailored for localresidents as well as Ukrainian and international touristsand migrants from the regions of Ukraine affected byrecent political developments. Experts in culture, arts,cinema and advertising, among others, will convene ata local library as a task force charged with developingthe idea.The local Kiev library, State Youth Library of Ukraine,will serve as a co-working space to host the taskforce charged with the design of bilingual Kiev citytourist routes. The library will serve as the meetingpoint for the task force, and it will provide informationmaterials to base tours upon. The library has extensiveelectronic and social media resources through whichthe project will be promoted and best practices will beshared with the rest of Ukraine and the world.54
