Patrícia CostaPortugalI am a social educator, with a Master’s in Psychology. Since 2003 I’ve been implementingand coordinating social projects and community intervention with children and youngpeople from vulnerable parts of Porto city, using non-formal education as the main tool. Aspart of my work, I produced several initiatives that encouraged connections with artists, whichincreased my desire to explore the areas of production and curatorship. I was recently invited to curate a mural withstreet artists and I was also involved in the production of a short film.Stickers for changeCommunity and street artists will create stickers to illustrate and identifyproblems. We’ll use stickers for change!In order to understand public space, we intend todevelop an innovative urban art project involving thecommunity in Porto’s historical centre, building dailydemocracy through urban life. Since our city has beenfacing economic and social problems, we intend tolisten to people. Together with local people and streetartists, we will build an urban art kit to label problemsand gaps of the city and stimulate discussion sessionsto draw possible solutions. People from differentgenerations, nationalities and social backgrounds willbe invited to participate, re-define and shape publicspace.To explore and document this project we will have ananthropologist using ethnographic methodology tounderstand people’s views and representations of theproject’s actions. The whole process will be filmed. Theresult will be an edited documentary, including threeteasers to publish online and promote the project on aworldwide scale.19
